i'm assuming you've all heard about what kind of things are brought up periodically that i don't think ever occur? things like... a massive ice shelf near the arctic circle is going to break off and plunge into the sea creating great waves... or my favorite, the huge piece of california that could fall off into the pacific and create a wave so huge that it would wipe japan off the earth

well, never occuring is almost as good of odds as occuring tomorrow, but yeah, I've heard the stories and try not to worry about them since there's not much that can be done to prevent them anyway.

California moves like 2 inches away every year or somethin like that, San Andreas fault is the term i believe.
Only thing they got on the U.S. for making a tsunami is that Volcano off of africa imploding sending mass waves in less then 9 hours to the US, which would give us PLENTY of time to evacuate or get off the shore.

I dunno about the plenty of time thing, it takes forever to get around LA or SF when there isn't widespread panic, I can't imagine what it would be like during something like this.

I remember learning about earthquakes and tsunami's and shit in earth science... and I also remember that tsunamis are capable of 500mph... So if the volcano in hawaii implodes it wont take to long for it to get to the states... not enough time for everyone on the coast to prepare for it.

But the US has a warning system(something south eastern asia didnt have), so if it means to evacuate the beaches in time, then there'll be A LOT less then 120,000 deaths or wherever this is at. When they sense that it'll actually implode, they'll definately start evacuating, but not guaranteeing everything wouldnt get destroyed.
