If you (and the 8.2 million others) haven't checked out Lord of the Rings online, you should. It is probably the best put together MMORPG that I've seen to date. Do I like MMORPG's personally? No. But to each his own, and I won't discredit that the game is a huge hit and had to have done something right. They cater to their audience very well and provide a great atmosphere. And more along alines of what Tjamz said - most people who rule their lives over WoW A) Didn't have a social life to begin with or B) Have an addicting personality, whether it's WoW, or something else they would be addicted to it.

I had to let go 1 of my former IT support professionals though however because of Everquest, he simply crossed the line between performing the work done that was expected and when that interfered - I simply could not let it happen (this was over 3 years ago when my company was just me and 4 other people)
