I have it stood upright on a cooler thing, and it's giving me some grief. Not only are the discs ruined, but the controllers flash thier ring as though they are trying to connect. They even do it when the thing is off...What's the deal?

I believe the 3 year warranty only applies to the 3 Red Lights error, everything else is 1 year.

There is a well known issue where some of the drives in the 360's have been destroying disks though. I'd be willing to bet if you called Customer Support @ Microsoft they might say "no" at first but you could push enough and get them to say "ok send it in we'll fix it".

the controllers will do the circle-of-green thing when they have a low battery, although having them do that while the box is off is surprising. note that the box also supports "low power mode" now where it will continue downloading and stuff even though its most of the way off..

The best cooling set up is one that does not draw power from the xbox 360 at all. i've seen ppl use four 120mm fans powered by an adapter and that drops temps dramatically.

The best consumer product right now is the pelican air flo (?) product which runs off the USB ports and also functions as a breakout box giving all kinds of ports. The nyko one will fuck up your shit. Stay away.

I say if your 360 needs cooling, you need a new xbox. If it's eating disks, try putting it horizontally, if it still does it, you need a new xbox. call up MS, they are replacing these things left and right, you don't necessarily even need a ring of death to get a replacement.

you really shouldnt use the 360 upright, they are notorious for chewing up discs. also if you need a cooling setup get the one that plugs into the usb port in the back otherwise you face a greater risk for the ring of death.

Lay it down and put it on something like a piece of cardboard if you have it laying on the carpet it should run better that way.
