first of let me say, it was a blast. nothing like racing, half naked models, and nice cars to make a nice sunday.

my first pass wasnt so good...at all. first round of qualifing, against an srt4 neon. the guys in the staging lane were trying to go through things WAY to fast, the neon had prestaged, staged, and the trees lit up before i was even close to pre staging. so i didnt even try. i didnt get disqualified though, the track staff were really enforcing lane courtsey. so they let me advance.

after a while, things started picking up and second round of qualifing started for my class. i was up against a mercury marauder. got up to the staging lanes, ready to go this time. my launch went down the poop shoot. i only had my 2 step set at 5594rpm, so i bogged like crazy. but even with the crappy launch, i got a 2.0 60ft and won this round with a 13.4. still, not that great.

my 3rd and final pass came up, after a long delay from cleaning the oil off the track from another car blowing up mid track. and was dialed in at 13.00, ready to go, still with my 2 step at 5594. I tried launching a little differently, slipping the clutch before dumping it which helped a small bit. but like deja vu, i bogged. on top of that i got really nasty 4th gear lock out. ened up with a 14.0 @ 105, with a 1.8 60ft. not beaing able to use 4th hurt me badly.

I still have al ot to learn on the car, but i wasnt pleased leaving the track at all. Any tips, suggestions or criticisms would be appreciated.

i tried dumping the clutch, since the act heavy duty is known for grabbing like a s.o.b. and it grabbed...followed by a giant lurch, bog, and shudder.

when i tried slipping it, it still bogged but it didnt lurch or shudder.

i would much rather had gotten a twin disk at the time, but with the time i needed it, it wasnt an option. so ill just stick with the act for now and deal with the lock out untill i get it built.

the more i think about it, my main problem seem to be my launch..mainly my 2 step. i think i might turn the 2 step up to 5800, or 6000 when i start logging. that should keep me from bogging, as for the lock out...ill see where my powerband starts to drop, and shift around then..or something.

My eclipse (act) I could drop it at 5500 rpms and it would take off like a bandit. On the evo (exedy twin disc ceramic) I had to feather it at 5500 rpms because if i dropped it, the car would bog. If you break your tranny, no big deal, just buy a built one

Thats how its done in AWD world. or else trannys break.

so a slipping clutch is harder on the transmission than one that doesn't slip and hooks instantly??

It was your first time at the track with the car, you shouldn't expect to run amazing times. just keep going and practice and youll break into the 12s
