I figured whats new, so I tried third gear, nothing. Eventually I came to a stop, and couldnt get my tranny to shift, so I got a buddy to push it to my house. I just though the tranny finally pooped out, so I opened my hood and found that I was missing two bolts that hold my tranny to the motor. When I put my tranny in the car all the bolts were tight. My question is did I strip the threads in the block, or did the vibrations from the motor cause it. I'm thinking the bell housing would break before the threads stripped out. Anyone ever have this problem?

Don't try and muscle it in or when it breaks....you yanking the tranny and extracting. More than likely, when the bolts backed out....and you pushed on the clutch....the tranny would pivot away from the tranny and when the bolt was nearly backed all the way out, it probably messed up some of the threads.

Make sure the bolts you are using are in good shape, tap the holes to get them cut right again and use Loctite RED, not blue. Torque, then drive it for week or so, then retorque. Also.....did you reinstall the dowel pins in the tranny/block? Those are amazing enough REQUIRED. Without them, that tranny shifts slightly and causes anything from bolts backing out to breaking of the crank at the flywheel in high HP apps. You need to use both too....not just one.

It will feel like its getting tighter until it hits a certain spot then get loose again, and to me that means its stripped.

You need to make sure that bolts are good and tight, which I'm sure you did. I remember Garberg's car was always trying to rattle itself apart! Maybe use a little drip of lock tite on them this time?
