I was left feeling like they were either a) idiots (maybe harsh, but you live by the river, but wait til the LAST minute for insurance), or b) waiting for the last minute because it is a MAJOR expense that is difficult to have unless immediately necessary</p>

<p dir="auto">My dad put flood insurance on his house last year. It is a 30 day waiting period. The cost depends on what level of the floodplain your house is on I believe.</p>
