<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><rss xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" version="2.0"><channel><title><![CDATA[D16 turbo GS-R...JJSpec Racing]]></title><description><![CDATA[<p dir="auto">I know I posted some pics of this before, but I felt that given the times it has pulled at the track, and the numbers it put down on the dyno, it deserves it's own thread.  I thought y'all might get a kick out of this or completely hate it.  Either way, the car is pretty rad.</p>
<p dir="auto">I was working for my friend Jimmy at his shop at the time (had to leave due to school schedule) and in my last few weeks there, we began working on a street car project since Jimmy didn't feel the need to resurrect his Hot Rod-class Civic (9.2@158).</p>
<p dir="auto">We had a customer that brought us a 94 GS-R and a 94 Civic EX hatch, wanting the GS-R motor in the hatch and offered Jimmy the D16 and Integra shell as a way to work off some of the labor costs.  Jimmy accepted the offer.</p>
<p dir="auto">After the motor was pulled, he began cleaning the engine bay up, and kept all of the interior.  The car was super clean, minus the paint job.<br />

<p dir="auto">After deciding on a color, he did the wire tuck and ABS delete.  He also converted it over to a Civic manual steering rack.  All in the name of saving weight.<br />

<p dir="auto">And the powerplant.....</p>
<p dir="auto">Stock sleeve D16 with SRP pistons (which have been in 2 motors prior to this build), Eagle rods, stock Y8 head, Garrett 60 trim, TiAL 60mm wastegate, and a copious dose of redneck innovation.<br />

<p dir="auto">By the second track outing, it ran a 12.4@113, and that was on low boost and old slicks.</p>
<p dir="auto">After fresh slicks and more boost, she belted out an 11.6@127, and backed it up with an 11.7@128.</p>

<p dir="auto">This whole car was intended to be a low-cost budget build to show that you can make good power with minimal spending.  Granted, he snatched some parts off of the race car (the wheels, wastegate, most of the electronics and MAP sensor) but his main point was to spend as little money as possible.</p>
<p dir="auto">Basically bring in the potential customers that want to go fast but not get stuck running 13's with an N/A B-series when they could hit 12's with a boosted D.  Most of us know that those costs are about the same.</p>
