I won't get into details, partly because from what I heard and out of respect. I almost didn't want to make the thread but I wanted to tell people to please be careful when driving down residential roads. A parent can tell a child something 'til they are blue in the face and the child will (sometimes) still not listen. I don't know how else to say it. Message boards can only say so much.

Generally speaking, I think people drive way too fast in residential neighborhoods (every day there are at least 2 people who zip through my street at 40 mph...they don't live in the neighborhood, they just get lost and figure the best way to find their way out is to speed....if I'm mowing when they are doing this I am my lawnmower outlet towards them hoping to fling a rock at them)

If the sun was in his eyes he was driving too fast for road conditions. 55mph is the MAXIMUM you can assume the road to be safe for in perfect conditions.

Again, I'm not saying the parents shouldn't have watched a little closer (trust me, I'm sure they are blaming themselves plenty right now) but its not like 2 year olds move at the speed of a deer (or dog) to where they can just dart out in front of you.

I tend to agree. Speed wasn't a factor, that is true, he was probably only going 55mph, but if he didn't slow down at all it doesn't mean that driver error wasn't a factor.
