In my experience, the only solution is to archive your important data and then reinstall. The "bootmgr missing" problem can't be fixed with the recovery console (at least, the one I experienced).

It should be as simple as throwing in the disc and doing a copy 'path on disc' 'path on drive' in the console. At least that solved a similar problem I ran into on a client's machine a while back.

If CMK's links don't fix it and all you need is that one file, I can email you a copy of it.

Bootmgr isn't on my recovery disk
You need the recovery discs to access the system repair tools to fix Windows Boot Manager (bootmgr).

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form

You can order the recovery media from that link. You will have to wait for the discs which doesn't really do you any good right now.

To get your machine back up and running now, go here: http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

Download the applicable flavor of recovery disc and burn it. Then go here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fixing-bootmgr-is-missing-error-while-trying-to-boot-windows-vista/

Follow those instructions and that should take care of your problem. Hope that helps. :icon_salut:
