<p dir="auto">Im not mechanically literate, but I have noticed that at lower RPMS my car has a very gritty and loud sounding acceleration (1800-3500).  I was wondering what could be the problem and what steps I could take to determine the actual problem?</p>
<p dir="auto">I have a 2002 rsx type S with around 160k miles on it.  It has an injen cold air intake. I changed the air filter around 4000 miles ago(it still made that sound before changing the filter) and I regularly change the oil and filter with mobil synthetic every 3500-5000 miles.</p>
<p dir="auto">I also have noticed a sizeable drop in mileage (360-380 miles versus 430 on highway) but this may be attributed to the age and wear on the engine?</p>
<p dir="auto">again, im a newb so I apologize in advance if i sound...noobish.</p>

It could be transmission noise, maybe time to change the trans lube.<br />
The difference sheeran is that even when we didn't know a coolant hose from an exhaust pipe we knew when to stop yapping and listen.</p>

Tried everything and we finally used a torch and got it out.  Took about 2 hours just to pull the original and maybe 30 seconds to screw in the new one LOL</p>
