Its a triple car garage that is about half insulated not including the roof. I was wondering what the best way to heat this garage to have a comfortable work environment would be without using propane. This will be temporary until we get out permanent heating element hung and hooked to the gas line from the house probably in spring. The one I was using last year was kind of old and it stunk really bad like diesel fuel, so that didn't last long as sometimes it would burn my eyes. Suggestions, opinions, and personal experience all welcome.

wood stove and wood heaters are awsome but collecting enough wood to get u through the winter is a pain in the ass, and nearly impossible for some people

and the fact if ur insurance company finds out u have one ur premium will prolly double

not that ive came across but it would be awsome if u could find a small used oil furnace, im pretty sure it would be pretty easy to find large quanities of free used oil

but heres the link to the blower heater ive been thinking about
its blows 300 cfm and u can get a 1500 watt heater attachment so i think it would do pretty good

http://www.atdtools.com/Tools.html

then the part numbers are (blower) atd-30001 (heater) atd-30002
How much higher will the electric bill be if I go with an electric heater?

Kerosene will always stink. The more you use it the more you get used to it. Like eating anchovies. You understand that you have too vent it. Having a triple garage means you better go big.

Kerosene is the same price as diesel fuel. I remember bitching at $1.70 a gallon. Hell its $2.80 now? unless someone knows where I can get it cheaper.

I heat mine with electric, and it's nice because it's clean and doesn't smell/burn eyes. But if you don't leave the space heated all the time and just turn it on when you want to work, it takes quite a bit of time for a typical electric heater to get the space warmed up.
