Honestly though, I MAY splurge and ebay a moto q - but what are your personal experiences with it? I just need something to sync live exchange and to use TS (as jim stated, it is extremely nice) just so I can RDP into some of the boxes at work and make some changes...

I just don't want a buggy POS

as for your statement Jim, trust me I agree with you 100% I don't like the iPhone either for the main reason you stated (Apple only software) - but I just want to find something decent - until then my POS LG will have to do (good thing I didn't sell this when I got my treo)

Who wants Cingular though, that is the problem I for see personally. Cingular would be a last resort for me, last time I had checked there plans were ridiculously high for what you get, that was also about a year ago...

1st: Apple is not supporting ANY 3rd party software at the moment. Who the fuck wants to run ONLY Apple software.

2nd: Verizon / Sprint both make use of TRUE 3G tech. giving EV-DO Capability up to 2.4mbps (and you can tether your laptop via bluetooth for connectability anywhere). Cingular's Iphone device uses the EDGE network which is slow as fuck... generally 50-75k throughput.

3rd: Terminal Services. You can login to your windows PC and remotely control it. I NEED this, and I'm positive an Apple product wouldn't let me use it.

Windows Mobile 2003 was OK, but 5.0 is incredible. It's stable, its fast, its got a huge support base. Personally, I didnt like the Treo either, screen was too small and the keyboard was cramped

I own a Samsung I730 and I love it... You can use SlingBox to watch 2.4mbps stream of TV on your PDA, Native support for MSN Apps, Voice Recognition dailing, NATIVE MS Office Suite, expansion slots via SD slots, GPS software.

Yeah i could go on and on, but IMO WM5 > IPhone

I returned my Treo700w because I think it's so flawed. Stylus crippled, and buggy as hell.

POP issues (without verisign signatures) into accounts is also having major issues (Microsoft is working on it they say) #1 problem being as soon as you POP into a non RPC (AKA gmail, hotmail etc, something other then an exchange hosted environment) it will delete previous saved messages that were not stored in offline.

Numerous crashes....

And when I say stylus crippled I mean, there are things you cannot do without the stylus which pisses me off, such as in Pocket Outlook and simply just want to change folders, can't do it with the keypad, have to do it with the stylus, also Pocket Outlook cripples your rule set....most rules I could get in was 30 without it freaking out.

Then again, these are all issues that I believe Microsoft will fix in the future...how soon I don't know. Do I think the iPhone will be the greate
st best thing ever? Hell no, haven't seen it - plus we won't see it (Cingular only, our minneapolis dwellers will be able to but not the local F-M residents)

Jim what kind of phone are you using? Treo? Q?

On the other hand it may offer to much for people who do not need all the features either. Also apple will be a fine mainstream solution to people not wanting to juggle 3 or 4 different electronic gadgets with them at all times and be user friendly to boot. Hopefully they wont have any damn lock up issues or anything like that...

For someone on the go or that travels alot, and needs portable this is the way to go.
