I have a 1986 MR2 and it's my 2nd car so I don't put a ton of miles on my new car. Both cars are for sale right now, but if none of them sell, I'd kinda like to try and turbo the MR2. I'm not after anything fast at all, but just alittle more. Thanks

    Steve

No turbo ones but there is a dude in GF with a CLEAN Supercharged version. Your better off looking at that since you can bolt on. There is also an even cleaner 1st gen in GF - but its NA.

assuming it's the 4age (i don't know that there are any other engines available), i would start with basics: good intake manifold, aggressive cams, and a nice catback exhaust. acquire the tuning and fuel components, then bolt-on a moderate turbo... say a t25, maybe a 16g. with such a small engine, the t25 should make your car really perky, and the 16g would make it a nasty straight-line car

4AGE was the only engine available in the '86

Go read the forums on www.mr2oc.com about modding that engine. The general consensus says it's a waste of time and money. Most of those guys just swap in the 4AGZE supercharged engine. Or.....if you look on Ebay...you'll see the JDM 20v'ers show up, like this one:
            http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7931160471&category=33615

A swap would be cheaper in the long run.

              i don't know...
              turbo 100
              fmu 110
              pipes 150
              intercooler 100
              misc 150
unless something else comes up, turbocharging would be the least expensive way to more power. with a swap, the engine would cost about this much, then there's shipping, misc, etc....

thanks for all the help and replies, but I think I will just try to sell it. I don't rag on it really, and I kinda need some money bad right now!!! Thanks everyone.

I have it in the classifieds also. The car has low miles(113,000) and is in very good condition, runs perfect so I'd really like to get around the 1600 range, but if you are really interested and had some money for me, I'm sure we could talk alittle!! Thanks

At first I was going to blast you for asking such a high price (about 350 over what a dealer should get) but after riding for a few hours to see an MR2 that was hardly road worthy, maybe 1600 isn't so bad. Even still it would have to damn clean and loaded for a private seller to ask more than 1000.

Some people must be getting some good deals if the average is 1700!!! I was just kinda judging from that. also kbb.com was from 1300-1700. So I picked 1600. I would sell it for 1400 forsure right now then if someone had the money right here!!!!!

oops, I don't think that link works, but it's nadaguides.com and the low was 900, average was 1700, and high was 2000.
