It isn't arc, he has to do 3 2' passes doing short-circuit MIG, if he stops or screws up any of those passes another is added, then he has to do 3 2' passes doing spray MIG, same deal about screwing up. In my class I was the only one to do it in 6 passes, the next closest to me was 8.

I did some vertical up(hardest mig weld IMO) friday of last week, perfect travel speed, but i wasnt consistant

Awsome job on the verticle up, but If 24" hurt your arm just wait till you get a job somewhere other than DMI and you have to do 5' beads that have to be 3/8 thick. If it burns your hand i sugest getting a heat sheild they work awsome. Do you know what part of dmi your working at, i have a buddy that is a foreman there, working that same shift. If you get sick of DMI witch im sure you will and want to get paid more come over to Buhler, we get really busy during the winter, and you can get all the ot you want then -

thats weird, i have had one start on fire before, and on these 5' passes im welding with 29.5 volts about 3.75-4 wire speed with .52 core wire, none of that hard wire shit. The handle of the gun has gotten so hot that you can even touch it with bare hands
