Not disagreeing with you chuck, but for most people, unless your REALLY into getting all of your 90whp in a stock civic/crx, theres no point in paying 1/3 of what the motors worth to change your oil... If you have the money go for it, maybe think about just changing your oil more often if your have high mileage.

      no race car? becuz homeowner...

I've never once thought of oil as a power adder, but rather a motor protection. I stand by my original statement.

what motor do you have in your crx?

It has a B18 in it. I've read that you can get better mileage, get a little more power due to less resistance from regular oil, and better engine protection. And you dont have to change it as often either. I was wondering how true all of these are. I was also planning on using the cleaner before switching over, to get the full benefit of using full synthetic.

              better mileage=maybe a bit
              more power=slightly....maybe
              less resistance=absolutely
              better engine protection=without a doubt
don't have to change as often=if you use AMSoils oil bypass filtration kit, you may NEVER have to change your oil...just add when its low and change filters every 5k miles and send in oil for analysis once a year.

I actually did a bit of analysis on some motor oils, and the results are contained in the attached zipped spreadsheet. The machine I was using really can't say anything about the base polymers, but additives based on metals can be detected. Probably the most significant difference is the higher Mo concentration in the more expensive oils, which is probably due to more anti-wear additives being present. All of the oils pegged the Zn detector at 300 ppm.
