I have kind of been having this same problem too. I think you may need a AFPR. I have a wally 255 on my talon and I have sputterring problems when I'm cruising on interstate or sometimes just when I take off. I know I am running rich because I dont have a AFPR and the 255 flows too much fuel. I have added new plugs and they helped a bit. I hope that helps a little bit.

Also, RidinRails, you should post up on how you fixed this problem. Thanks

I dont know how differant the DSM fuel setup is from my 240 when It was stock, but, I rad a 255 on stock fuel sytem for 3months. I don't really see how the fuel system would be that bad. your FPR could be bad that will cause it to be rich.

well i didnt own a shop, mine ran fine. Its called properly setting up your car. This includes the correct mods and a TUNE.....that is probably their biggest problem. Get a flipping wideband and an AFC and tune your car and you will be fine most of the time. But we got idiots out there throwing mods on and pushing their cars to the limit and blowing shit up because they didnt tune it.....

idk if this helps any, haven't really had muc experiance with it but anyways. so we took the eclipse out for a drive and had a scanner hooked up to it. now while eric was in first, when he has no problems the injector pulse width was reading around 8.3 mmsec all the way up to around 6k rpm or so. as soon as he went into 2nd gear and up though the injectors began stayin open for around 13.3 mmsec after around 3500 rpm it seemed. now im not totally sure on how long the injectors should be staying open but that didn't seem right and seemed to be linked to his sputtering, injectors staying open to long and just making it run way to rich. also something to note, erick has a test pipe in and is obdII that could be causing the engine to run rich as it is on top of the possible injector problem. long post lol any ideas from anyone?

well on a obd2 car removing the car will cause some issues, but if a check engine light or a code is not being thrown there should be a problem. What the issues will be is you will throw a code that would be triggered by the 2nd o2 sensor from not seeing a change in the A/F after the cat, cause the cat, isnt there or working.

so, you guys go test the IPR in 1st and 2nd gear, did you check 3,4,5 and look at the differance in the pulse rate between the gears?

ya, i know theres prolly nothing happening without a code being thrown, was just a though. didn't get to much time with the scanner so i only got accurate reads in the first 3 gears but like i said, 8.3 in first and then 13.3 in 2nd and 3rd

forget that scanner, if you dont have both 02 sensors in you are going to run very rich. Go to www.o2simulator.com and buy a simulator this will help the code and correct your a/f. Also invest in a boost gauge and an AFC.....then you can tune it properly.

at least then you know whats going on though, with an AFC. I think he was gonna either switch back over to the stock cat or a high flow, aren't those o2 simmulators kinda of a hit or miss?

                                          an AFC isnt tuning properly....

                                          We already know that.

But, unless he is attempting to compensate for larger injectors or other mods, why get an AFC? There is something that is causing the car to have this problem. By using the AFC to fix it, all you are doing is putting a band-aid on it.

I highly doubt your injector pulse rates have anything to do with it. they are controlled by your ecu. Having a bad ecu could affect this, but is probably not that likely. If you had a diesel vehicle it would be more common to have problems related to injectors or the pulse rate. What brought you to onto the idea of checking the pulse rates????

Have you checked your MAF, and for boost/vacuum leaks? Also did this happen after you swapped to a differant BOV or intake or something like that? if so put it back to how it is an see if it has the same problem.
