Whatever. I'd throw a B18C1 in there and be done with it.

there are a few around that are/will be making some power shortly. I can appreciate the idea of the ls1, and the power/torque potential, but for me to see an rx7, and then hear a v8 when it revs completely ruins it for me. part of what makes it so rare is the rotary. it's the same thing as putting an rb26dett into a mustang that so many people think is dumb as hell.

I think they rb27TT swap is dumb because it was a classic car, and the motor that comes in it would probably be cheaper to build and get the same power.

I personally bought an rx7 because of the rotary engine, even tho it might not have the power a v8 has it can still hold its own and can be made to be powerful and reliable as well. As far as rebuilds go mine had about 150,000 miles on it before it was time for a rebuild. So far i've spent about 400 on it, but thats doing it myself. I would also sell mine before dropping in a v8. If i was after more power then a 20B engine (3 rotor) would be the swap i'd consider.

and that's fine. everyone deserves their own opinion. i agree the rotary motors are not the most reliable platform, but alot of it has to do with it's owner. they can be much more reliable with the right mods, and some special attention. the rotary motor can handle alot of power, and they can be rebuilt/ported for fairly cheap, especially if you have the knowledge to do your own work. I know everyone wants to jump on the hate the rotary bandwagon, but lets be honest outside of the horror stories you've heard, there are many people out there who run their rotaries everyday just fine. it's when people jump into modifying without doing research on what is safe, and what could be handled that they get in trouble.

I'm not saying it is **the mod to do, I personally would love to see a high revving Wankel RX7 over a SBC RX7, but I understand why people choose to go v8.

LS1 is the new SR20 of the swap world. Personally I would take a rotary over an LS1 any day in an rx7 or any other import.

SBC swaps have been really popular forever.

I would say that the 2JZ swap is more popular. I've seen them in S2K's, RX7's....PROBES!!!

^ that's because hicks will try to put a sbc into anything they can get there hands on. I knew of a couple 400hp rotary FC's, if you break it down it's 5hp per cubic inch, 13b's are 80ci. That would be like having over 1500hp in a sbc...how many of them are reliable for a daily driver? A friend of mine drove his FC (which was pretty modded) everyday, even in the winter and the only things that ever went wrong were Mazda's shitty electronics and wiring, it also got 25mpg when he wasnt in boost (which was most of the time) and I think like 11 when he was in it...

                              90 Honda CRX Dx - Burnt (R.I.P.) - Racecar

Oh my god. Are you serious?

Did you just pull out the cubic inch to hp card?

Get off of that. It is bar none, the STUPIDEST riceboy arguement in the world. Thats like me going around saying "Yeah, well if that V8 had a turbo it would STOMP that 4 banger!"

Are you into RC cars? Some of those make 4000 hp If they were an SBC, does that make them superior, or a better option for an RX?

See what I mean? Wasn't that pretty dumb?

You pulled the gas mileage card too? Really? Even though there are V8 cars with MORE power than your friends car that get BETTER gas mileage?

Also, as far as SBC's being swapped into everything becuase they are "hicks", you could say the same thing about Honda owners, or "ricers" if you want to use names, who swap B16FDTTSR's etc etc into X car.

                                :nonono:

You can't really say which swap has been the most popular lately cause everyone is comin up with some crazy shit now adays.

This argument only works if you are satisfied w/ 400 to 500 whp (or whatever the max that a given import motor can produce...yes, some will produce more than others, I know this) what do you do if you want 700whp or 900whp or more reliably? The cheapest way to get it is through larger displacement in some cases.

I like it when people put engines into cars, then make them run.

                                          :nonono:

I really wanna see 400whp v8 get anywhere near 26 mpg in town.
