civic clutch issue
-
i recently bought my 99 honda civic hatback with a b16 swap and it also has an exedy stage 2 clutch in it... but today i noticed that if crusin at 35mph in 4th gear and i give it like half or a little more gas, it just revs up from that speed but it catches fine when i shift and it only slips when its already in gear (from what i know) . The guy i bought it from said it should be fine but sumtin needs to be tuned or tightened or sumtin, So is it going out or do i need to bring it some where to get fixed?

it's probably clutch slippage unless the car was an automatic to start with... usually the pedal play doesn't get tampered with much, clutches are cheap anyways

Brandon it's one of two things. Either the clutch is shot or the clutch is shot. Theres also the possible the previous owner put it on the wrong way...

And clutches really aren't that cheap, and they are kind of a pain in the ass to install with the motor in the car.

pulling the tranny sucks period....especially when it's an auto like the one i put in my honda hatch a few weeks ago, thing weighs about as much as a 350 turbo i'd say
-
So you said that changing a clutch has never really hard, but pulling the tranny sucks, how do you change the clutch without pulling the tranny?? And yes, honda autos are very heavy, but not really any worse to swap then manuals.

it's not hard i just hate doing it.... i suppose i contradicted myself a little bit when i said clutches are never really that hard but trannys are always a bitch.... so i can see why you'd be a little confused.... but usually when i think tranny im thinking automatic...and well i've never liked dealing with those much at all, manuals are lighter, smaller much easier to work with....it still only took me about 3 hours to replace the tranny in my civic and it wasn't hard at all.....so a manual being smaller and lighter once you resurface the flywheel put the clutch on the flywheel and put the tranny in....shouldn't really take that long, it's not hard at all.....but i still hate doing it with all that asbestos crap and the fact my old tranny had a huge hole in it so i was covered in atf all while putting the new used one in
