Muscle cars VS. Imports

The End Is Near

I like turtles.
-
There are only two things I hate about muscle cars and their owners.
-
Thinking that a 30-50 year old boat of an automobile is the best car ever made. Believe it or not, but technology does have a habit of improving things. I mean, "tuning" with a screwdriver?
-
If your muscle car is so great then chase me. Around cones, a track, neighborhood streets. Remember that there is more to a car than the engine inside.

pfft, I'd chase you except I don't want to have to try and pass you in a neighborhood.

Tuning with a screwdriver can work quite well. It is just a matter of adjusting your air fuel ratio through mechanical means, rather than electronically.
Technology definitely does improve things, but you have to realize that these cars
are a entirely different breed than the modern day cars. and if new cars are so much better, why is it that some of the designs for suspension components are the same as they were then? -
A muscle car that has been gone through and has new suspension peices can handle better than most would think. My charger handled like a tank when I first got it, and now it is slightly better than that of a cargo van.

I think both types of cars have their flaws, but I think the biggest thing I dislike about import guys is when they piss poorly mount a body kit and don't bother to paint it. That kind of stuff just drives me nuts. This was way more prevelant in Bismarck than it is here, but so were the kids who literally only install a CAI and a fart cannon.
I have seen alot of imports running out at the Tintmaster street legal days, and I've seen some quick imports, hell I've seen a few fast ones too (I always considered fast as being 11 seconds or faster in the 1/4) But I have also seen some that were back in the 17 and 18 second 1/4 times.
HOWEVER on the flip side, I have also seen some 18 second cars in the trophy class at a regular race weekend.
Most people have a fear of change and a fear of admittance. Import guys dont like to admit that a muscle car is more than a antiquated peice of crap, and muscle car guys dont want to admit technology is good.
I guess its just one of those things. Hell most muscle car guys dont care for corvette guys either. so I wouldn't take it so personal.
