Well, the majority (in my opinion) the most listened to radio station (comparing the two, Rock 102 and Y94) I think that Y - 94 is more "re-knowned" than rock 102....So getting hooked up with Y94 would be more beneficial. Just my .02Who doesnt know that, that is why I was referring to 102 as a potential hook up after y94 shot it down.....

I'd say try Q98, a lot of people listen to it, and they would probably actually promote the thing...Plus with the commercials they allow to air I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind the content of this site.

Also, where on this site is there actual talk about street racing in the public forums?? If anything it's us talking about seeing stupid kids doing stupid stuff and us flaming them. As long as i've been on here Fargostreet hasn't condoned street racing and it's something that's looked down upon and not discussed. Pretty much all the "my car is faster than your car" fueds are settled ON THE TRACK, which is a perfectly legal environment. I can't believe they wouldnt promote a charity event when the did the Rock My Ride stuff, which would have a bigger tendency to promote "street racing" than an event to give less fortunate children toys for x-mas...It's sad how ignorant the public is around here...

Q98 Ftmfw!!!!!!!!

+1 for KFGO....however the following stations are all owned by Jim Engstad of Radio Fargo-Moorhead, so you may get similar responses to all of them....:
KFGO
WDAY (Y94)
BOB 95 (KBOB??)
ROCK 102
MIX 104.7 -

Troy,
I thank you for giving us a heads up, but I would like some confirmation
on your response. You say Y94 is primarily women...
I see your station as being pointed more towards a younger generation, not
specifically women. You are the only station in town who plays "new"(2
months old to everyone on the coasts)pop music in town. Whether it be
Soulja Boi or Linkin Park. You say our website is vulgar...
I guess I can see where you are coming from as a business man watching his
"butt", but your ignorance as far as stereo typing Cars Enthusiasts as
strictly males, and members of our website who partake in "Illegal
activities" gives me a reason to continue to try to seperate our
reputations from the current views of the community.
Your DJs discuss topics and your radio station plays music, as vulgar as,
if not worse than anything that is posted on fargostreet.owned...
When did this term become involved with street racing?Have a nice afternoon,

Joel,
Clearly you're pissed even though I was trying to be honest with you. I could have
just brushed you off, but you seemed like a nice guy with a good cause, so I tried
to help you. If you want to discuss this further, please send me your phone number
and we can discuss.Troy

Troy,
I know you said we can discuss this over the phone, but it really needs no
discussion after this email.
My point in case is:
We asked you for help, you said no, and gave us a good resource(Thank You!), BUT...
you obviously have a preconceived notion that anyone involved with the import car
community or car community in general is involved with street racing and illegal.
There is NO WHERE on fargostreet that we regulate, condone, or sanction illegal
street racing. We support our local community drag racing strip in Sabin instead. I
have organized this toy run specifically to change the minds of people(like you)
who's head have been filled with images like "The Fast and the Furious" or "Gone in
Sixty Seconds". This is what we are trying to overcome and whether it be one by one
emails or a charity event, we would like to get the correct information about our
group to people who otherwise have no idea.
The avatars on our website are 99.9 percent other people doing stupid stuff or
other people's cars as we do not partake in activities such as "drifting" in the
middle of the street, or doing 185 miles per hour unless it is on a closed course.
We are people who love our cars, love to shine them up and personalize them the way
we want, and show people what we've done."The action of few project images for all"
While we cannot stop people(who we do not associate ourselves with) who have similar
vehicles with skewed interests, we can try show people what we REALLY do and who we
are, in hope's that eventually the police and/or society will weed out the
trouble-makers.So please do not get the wrong idea that I am pissed just trying to overcome a bad
image for a suppressed people who want to be heard.Thank you for your time,
Sorry about the misunderstanding,

Joel, your response to him was a bit harsh and entirely uncalled for. A better response would have been along the following lines:
Mr. Dayton, I would like to address the concerns that you have with our website and also get some clarification as to why exactly you don't think we are a good fit for your station to cross promote with.
I would like to provide you with some information regarding what fargostreet is all about. First, you will notice that there are very few, if any, references to street racing in our forums. Yes, we have sections dedicated specifically to racing, but, if you were to look closer you would see that those sections tend to be geared towards legal racing at the track in Sabin or Autocross style events. In fact, part of the reason we wanted to do this event was to help shed the image that we are all a bunch of street racers in our "rice-mobiles".
Second, you are correct, we are a predominantly male group over here. That does not mean that we don't have female members as well (much like you have a fairly large male following, even though you are targeting women). Many of the individuals in the car scene (especially the import scene) in the Fargo-Moorhead area listen to your station when they wish to hear a local station playing rap/hip-hop.
As for the off color language, what can we say? Freedom of speech is in full force. While I understand why you feel that it may be counter productive and raise some issues with some of your listeners, I would argue that the lyrics in some of the songs played every day on the radio suggest much racier things than we talk about on here ("My Humps" by Fergie comes to mind....along with a ton of other songs)
And finally with the slang word "Owned"...it is not directly related to street racing, though some may say something along the lines of "Man, I lined up against this Talon out at the track and he owned (or pwn3d) me..." Another use may be "I was playing this video game last night on the net, and this dude just owned everybody...his skill was amazing."
I would like to thank you for hearing me out and would still very much like to work with your radio station on this matter. Please contact me at XXX-XXX-XXXX and lets see if we can discuss solutions or other options as I feel your radio station would help spread the word as well as any other station in the F-M area.
I look forward to working with you now or in the future.
Thank you.
Joel

Joel, feel free to give Troy Dayton my phone number (make sure you tell him it is me and not you. I am willing to talk with him and see if maybe we can work something out.
