    What was the cops name?

    legacy image

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall
Torque is how far you take the wall with you

thought i'd throw some stuff out, good job for not fleeing, going into school for law enforcement bad idea, once they flip on their cherries the cameras are on. wouldn't make sense to flee. and on top of it north dakota aint a big state so when a cop see's cars going over the speed limit chances are they are going to run into you in some point and time. so pulling over and taking the hit is better than taking the bullet. we all get pulled over and i didn't see anything where you complained you were just stating what happened but ya its all good it happens. peace

Alright - so the unregistered vehicle was yours. Cool. I have a truck with the permit tag in the back window right now.. I know I have three weeks left at this point to get everything in my name.. just haven't had any time off work during the DMV's hours. So I'm going to have to blow one of my amazing half-hour lunch breaks waiting in line to pay registration fees next week. Until then I drive it as little as possible.

If you knew your tag was expired, why would you be driving the car around - and why would you be doing anything like "highway pulls" for crap's sake? There's nothing better to do around here, you said.. have you proven differently? Or is the best option still to break the law and get caught doing it? Same goes for not having a license or insurance. What are you doing driving a vehicle if you don't have the legal right to?

Dude, it's only fair that you'll end up paying a fine.. it does suck to pay, but you know going into it that these are possible consequences for your actions. I paid for my mistakes (I paid a hell of a lot for speeding when I was younger, then paid for higher insurance for years afterward) and I did learn some from them.. I'm as much of a pussy driver now as CMK, apparently. I'm totally okay with that. Lower insurance payments = more money for other stuff. Especially when I'm paying 1/3 now for three vehicles as I was paying for liability on one vehicle a few years ago.

I'm glad you put it the way you did, definitely.. "This happened, and I'm letting you all know" is better than taking shit for it later on. I definitely have more respect for people who are up-front about things. so high-five for that.

Just trying to influence a little bit of thinking on everybody's part - we've got some pretty well-established rules on how the whole process works. If you buy a car.. register it, insure it, have a license to drive it, and follow the rules while driving. There are consequences for not following the rules. Yay.

In north dakota you can outrun the raido considering that the cop ratio is so low. But what would you know about that. Just keep driving like a pussy.
Sothe rest of us get pulled over because a certain silver WRX was running red lights on 13th ave?

racing down 29 by the alerus center, how about you just do laps around the police station. There are always HP there, in fact, between Mayville and GF that is the only place i ever see them.

Ok...racing is dumb, BUT I think you should fight the racing portion of the ticket ESPECIALLY since they didn't actually clock you speeding and it sounds like your record is not horrible. Won't cost anything extra, and will probably only mess up a morning or afternoon for you. The 10 points is going to be hard to swallow though IF you get the racing ticket....and will raise your insurance quite a bit, so you may as well try and fight that portion of it. If you do that though, admit freely that you had expired tags (I've been guilty of this myself in the past), admit that you were speeding to keep up with your friends, but that in no way were you trying to out accelerate/pass them. Worst thing that can happen is that you get found guilty of the charges you already have been charged with.

^true. If it wasn't a speed contest of some sort.. you can probably just get it knocked down to speeding if they're nice about it. And hope nobody "official" reads this thread, and that none of the other guys say they were racing. because then they'd just be screwing all of you.

I've seen a lot of crappy tickets get dropped because of technicalities.. but my guilt complex doesn't want me to get away with not paying for a ticket I deserve. Damn guilt complex. So I've only fought one ticket.. which actually WAS a b.s. charge.. and paid the rest, because I really truly was speeding. Usually by about 80 (ND) to 130 (MN) bucks worth.

^^GarageAlchemist.. I think I know which cop you're talking about. huge LOL when I read that. He was a pretty decent guy last time we crossed paths, let off one of my friends on the condition that I drive him home. (passed all the tests but the breathalyzer was 'acting up' or something, just dumb luck, buddy wasn't sober enough to see "one way" on NP apparently.)
