So like any good pseudo journalist I bundled up and headed out.
    legacy image

The first step was to head northwest towards where I was stuck earlier in the day - and where another truck had been stuck since around noon. The snow hadn't blown in behind it quite as bad as I had first though.
    legacy image

With the strong North wind and a wide open north-south driveway it ended up depositing quite a bit of snow along the west driveway in my complex. This is directly behind the previously picture pickup.
    legacy image

With sitting in that location for nearly 5 hours, the truck had started to pick up more than its fair share of snow. The drift seen to the left rear of the truck is similar to the conditions I experience earlier in the morning. As you can see there has been quite a bit of snow deposited in front of the vehicle.
    legacy image

From there I continued onto the street where payloaders were seen earlier clearing a way for emergency crews. As soon as I got onto the street it was clear why payloaders were necessary for access. This photo is looking parallel with a wide 2 lane street (plus right side parking).
    legacy image

Street crews were forced to clear a path well onto the apartment complex lawn in order to pass this area. Untouched drifts in this area reached upwards of 5' with piles from the payloaders adding rock hard 5-7' piles elsewhere.
    legacy image

Continuing along the street you could see the numerous abandonded cars parked among the cars parked along the street. Plows had attempted to clear this street earlier but due to the stalled vehicles were unable to pass.
    legacy image

There were at minimum 6 abandonded vehicles in spots not considered parking over a stretch of about 2 city blocks. There were also faint silhouettes of stranded vehicles just down the street from this location.
    legacy image

The last of the abandonded vehicles in this stretch of street. This one had at least gotten turned the right direction but ended up stuck and helpless on the wrong side of the street.
    legacy image

And finally I made it back into the eastern most driveway of my complex to find the final victim of this particular snow drift. This ranger fell victim to this snowbank around 3pm after numerous other vehicles had occupied, and fortunately enough exited, the same snowbank.
    legacy image

And finally yours truly makes it back home relatively undamaged.

Thats what i assumed so i wanted to get out of there. Suprisingly it was only freezing rain for about 5 miles maybe between the cities and st.cloud, went from rain to snow pretty quick.

Well they dug out one of the cars but left it sitting there. I hope they realize that its going to be buried even deeper now in a couple hours thanks to the awsome snowburm they created around it. The other car (who's owner's sister I talked to earlier) might damn near make it all the way under by daylight.

I tried to head out to the shop to get some stuff done and decided that it wasn't worth it when the back end was in a perma slide even in 4hi

I made the joke with the chick that by morning they might still be able to see the antenna. Now I'm starting to think I might have been accurate in that statement.
Best part is that there was a spot in the garage for it and the chick's sister didn't put it away.

It shouldn't be too bad. The plows will be out all night salting the shit out of everything. Although, in in the last hour and a half the temp has dropped from 16 to 4.

                    Edit: It is 4 degrees

say bookem, can you tell how deep that drift is in front of that ranger? From here it looks like it's a solid 10' right now...

Thinking now is the time to go dig out the garage and get all the shit out I should've gotten out earlier.

Anyone see an ambulance at by pracs/amber valley parkway?

My IDIOT friend decided to walk from pracs (stuck saturn) to our apartments, he got massive frostbite on his face ears because he wasn't wearing proper gear.

4 hours after we called 911 the arrived. He was fine, may lose a peice of his ear.
