I'm going to Vegas

basically...be prepared to walk...a lot
Stay on the strip. I don't care where, but trust me...stay on the strip, it will save you money.
Hotels I like:
Treasure Island, New York New York, Excaliber (has great deals online right now), Luxor (stay in the tower...not the pyramid...big cost savings).
As for night clubs:
LAX was fun, as was Dicks Last Chance (not really a nightclub, but a good time). Maragaritaville is fun as well.
Terribles/El Cortez have the loosest slots in town and you will find many locals playing there....the Wynn also has a lot of locals playing and has one of the best players clubs.
While at El Cortez, check out Mamacita's restaurant (across the street from it) for some of the best deals on AWESOME food in town.
Fremont Street Experience is pretty BA as well...and it's free.
Check out the top of the Eiffel Tower as well as the top of the Stratosphere...it's awesome...oh..and go on the rides on top of Stratosphere.
As for shows...I can't think of the guys name, but he is a hypnotist that performs at a small club next to the Harley Davidson cafe....Yellow Evo would know his name...
Other really good shows: Zumanity (get a love seat up front with wife...good show); Penn & Teller; O; Love
Shows that were "ok": Tournament of Kings; Criss Angel "Believe" (this one is getting revamped though)
Check out the car museum at Emperial Palace and check out the Ferrari dealership at Wynn.

Congrats. The MGM and Mandalay Bay are at the Very far end of the Strip. not that its bad but FYI. For example, fremont street, old vegas is at the other end of the strip. But there are a lot of shows and such stuff is around there. Its the nicer part of Vegas.

Also going there towards the end of October so it should be cooling off (upper 70's for daytime temps) so shouldn't be too bad for long walks. I think the hardest part will be keeping the group together, but not too worried about that.

yep^^the train/shuttle things worked well for us
The shuttle sucked. not only did it take a half hour to wait for it to arrive, but it took 15 minutes and all we did was go across the street(from NY NY to that exaclibur place)...IMHO, just walk or if need, take a cap, theres plenty of them

They come every 6 minutes...or are you talking hotel shuttle? I'm talking about the tram/monorail.

but yeah, if you only went one hotel over you should have used the walkway over the street...

yeah, but think of the stories you'd have to tell your buddies when you got home! Besides, you just need to make her think it was her idea.

I didn't like the luxor that much, Tournement of kings was cool. Go to a Cirque de soleil show they are badass. The ferrari dealership at the wynn is cool except paying to get in kinda sucks but the rest of the wynn is amazing. Maragaritaville has good pretty good food too. I dont know about anything else though, i'm not old enough.

Actually it was a trolley lol -
Terry Stokes is the name of the hypnotist... at least the one i saw, Chuck saw like 2-3 but i saw zumanity and that was awesome, i've stayed at the Luxor and TI, and i'd pick T.I. over luxor any day, it's a lot closer to the part of the strip I liked so less walkin for me. Depends on what your going down there to see, so make a list of what you want to do and then probably plan the hotel around that and that section of the strip. Your legs/feet hurt after 2 days walkin up and down. The wax museum is pretty cool too, kinda weird how much they resemble the real person. That was $20/person though so kinda spendy to look at wax people... Food wise, stay away from Harley Davidson IMO, nothing special and wasn't the greatest food... PF Changs is always a good bet, margaritaville was good. ESPN Zone has awesome hamburgers and huge portions. The Deli in T.I. was awesome too... ate there like 3 times because it was open 24 hours a day and huge sandwiches

Here's another vote for TI. The beds are amazing there. The free pirate show is pretty cool too. Also here's another vote for PF Changs if you like chinese, its damn good. Maggiano's for italian food is badass, just note that its all a-la-carte, thats on the end of the fashion show mall. Check out the Blue Man Group if you can, thats a great show. The Ghost Bar, Moon, and Playboy club at the Palms are all awesome. Caesars palace is probably the coolest place ever. In the mall at Caesar's, there's a car show type thing, its worth it. Ferrari dealer at the Wynn is good, and now there's a Lambo dealer in the Palazzo I guess. If you get a rental car and want a little drive, Lake Las Vegas is pretty neat to check out. Just watch out for way north Las Vegas, that shit is uber ghetto. If you wanna see people using a blanket attached to a fence for their house, thats where you can see it. That's north of downtown even. Downtown is cool too, check it out. Oh we tried the monorail thing and its a decent deal, the problem, is when you get on and off, you have to go through the Casino at the hotel where the pickup/dropoff point is, and then walk way back to the rail, its kind of a pain in the ass.
