93 head on a 6 bolt block ?

I am in the middle of reconditioning a 1993 7 bolt cylinder head that I want to mate to my 6 bolt bottom end. I have read that the stud holes have to be brought out 1mm to accomplish this...and I will be using ARP's. For the dsm guys who have done this: Did you just send it off to the machine shop? or could I just drill em' out with the drill press? Any information would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!
