Fuck Acer
-
So the original BIOS in my Aspire One had a widely known problem that caused the battery to fully discharge, then not be recognized and not be able to charge. Acer fully recognized the problem and released an updated BIOS to fix the problem. A couple days ago, I updated the BIOS, and now my computer isn't able to run for more than twenty seconds before it shuts down. I'm fairly certain it's a CPU voltage issue, since the fan obviously spins like crazy trying to cool it down. I emailed Acer about the issue and their solution (load setup defaults in the BIOS) didn't solve the problem. Now they say my only option is to send the computer to them, pay for shipping, and pay $199 for them to fix it. Fuck that noise. The computer only cost me $330 brand new. There's no reason I should have to pay for their fuck up that was supposed to fix their first fuck up.
Fuck you, Acer. I hope your stinky vaginas all fall off.

I have an Aspire One and I cracked the shit out of the screen the 2nd week I had it lol, but that was my fault.
Here you go man:

Reflash with an older bios, you don't even need to POST to do it:

I was going to try to reflash it to an earlier version, but I don't think it'll stay on long enough for it to finish. It POSTs and then just starts booting Windows and it shuts down. I'll give it a shot though. I don't have many other options I guess. Thanks.

Thanks."The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, which makes it possible to flash the BIOS even if it doesn't POST and the system doesn't boot anymore. It's meant for emergencies and is also known as crisis disk mode. Use at your own risk."
So what's the worst that can happen by reflashing it? It turns off? Just keep trying, it shouldn't take long, and also, you are reflashing the BIOS before the CPU even POSTS, so this is strictly BIOS related, before it even supplies the CPU with whatever setting its using.

Yeah I did that and so far it's working. I only used it for a couple minutes but I can tell it's running a lot cooler.

They don't sell the 8.9" one anymore, but I got it from Newegg. The 10.1" ones are cheaper than the smaller ones used to be.
