However, the facts listed in this email are bogus. I'll post later.

Believe it or not, citizenship is harder to attain than you might expect. I know a young man who lived here illegally for somewhere in the 18-22 year range, and finally chose to pursue legal citizenship when he wanted to marry someone who lives here as a citizen. That was about 5 years ago, and he's been having some serious problems.

He's married to a citizen, but that doesn't guarantee acceptance. He has children with that same young lady, but that doesn't guarantee acceptance. He has been gainfully employed and a pro/am boxer, but that doesn't guarantee acceptance. Citizenship is a more tangled web than you are told.

It's hard to get citizenship in the USA no matter who you are.

The main problem, as identified above, is the high cost of providing the welfare-state to all comers. It's not sustainable. We can tear it apart carefully in small peices, or we can wait for the US to default, the dollar to collapse, and society to collapse with it.

But either way, it's coming apart.

So he comes here illegally, gets a girl knocked up gets married, and expects to gain citizenship just because of that. People do get citizenship if they want it. They have to work for it. Not get everything handed to them. Im sure its no cakewalk to get citizenship in any other country, how about you get out of this one and find out?

Where did he say he expects it? Also, where does it say he knocked her up first...maybe he did, maybe he didn't...either way he is married to the girl.

He's trying to make things right and do the right thing. He's trying to head down the right path. The facts are that it is infinitely easier to continue to be an illegal alien than it is to become a citizen.

It implies he expects it. I never "specifically" said that he got her knocked up first if you want to be that way.

And its not impossible to become a citizen, so it shouldn't matter if its harder or not.

                    That's specific enough for me.

He used the proper forms, talked to all the right people, and still got the run around. Do you have a better answer? No, because you are just interested in looking like the tough American.

I am not a part of the frustrations happening to this young man, but I do know that he speaks good English (bonus!), has been working consistently since 14 (bonus!), and is married to a legal citizen (bonus!). He has been deported since trying to attain legal citizenship, and is continuing to have difficulties getting citizenship here.

Whether the woman was knocked-up or not is immaterial, what matters is that he chose to try doing things the "right" way, and he's being punished.

its not impossible to become a citizen, so it shouldn't matter if its harder or not.
Ever done any research on the difficulties of becoming a Swiss citizen? German? Finnish? It's very hard. There is such a thing as a point of diminishing returns, and that point is reached for many people.

I suggest that you stop posting in this thread, you contradicted yourself, and you don't make sense.

The same can be said for all of our relatives that immigrated here. Why did they come? For opportunities not available to them in their home country. Or are you saying it's ok for Europeans to immigrate to the US but not for anyone else?

The same can be said for all of our relatives that immigrated here. Why did they come? For opportunities not available to them in their home country. Or are you saying it's ok for Europeans to immigrate to the US but not for anyone else?

UMM my great grandparents came her legally...... From Norway.
