1993 Del Sol
-
Today, I present to you one fine piece of honda machinery.
What we have here folks is a 1993 Honda Del Sol. In a custom "spray paint silver" finish. It is obvious that at one point in it's life it was black, or white, depending on where you look at the peeling paint.
This thing is one true race car, guaranteed to get you into the mid to high 20's in the quarter mile! Some of the many race car features include:
Tokico adjustable struts with ebay coilovers so you can ride in that true race car comfort (see: uncomfortable)
Ebay short shifter so you can slam through those gears every 15 seconds or so. Don't get too crazy though, it's got a torn CV boot and with that kind of power you don't want the axle to let loose on you.
The sweet custom interior was painted electric blue at one point, then spray painted black later to give you that cool black to blue peeling effect.
Custom weight reduction such as missing glove box, and no interior driver door handle, but don't worry the linkage is still there so you don't have to try to climb over the ever-so-spacious interior to get in and out.
The car rolls around on 89 CRX SI wheels due to the fact that the 17 inch rubber bands that were on the car when I got it blew the hell out after 3 days on gravel.
Now, everyone knows that the most important part of the race car is the engine. Stuffed in the engine bay is a wicked awesome D16Y7 that supposedly has eagle pistons and vitara rods for your ULTRA low compression needs, and how do you hold all that power together you ask, ARP head studs of course (according to the sticker under the hood). A/C has been mostly removed to make this thing as light as possible for your super sweet racing experience. Since everyone knows that a real race car doesn't need a thermostat, it has been removed (which makes driving to work in the middle of winter a real treat). And of course we can't forget the ebay short ram intake, every real race car needs one of those. Recent work to the engine includes napa "cheap line" plug wires and some NGK plugs. Recent work to the engine does not include an oil change, but that's ok, with how much oil this thing leaks (quart every few weeks) it's getting a constant supply of new oil.
The wicked awesome race clutch (see advanced auto as cheap as you can get) was replaced along with the rear main seal approx. 15,000 miles ago. Unfortunately one of the leaks is the distributor o-ring which drips directly on to the bell housing so it'll need to be fixed asap or it will probably cause the clutch to get soaked in oil and become useless. Car also comes with a new oil pan gasket.
Now, I know you are all saying to yourselves..."wow, darkelvis, this sure sounds like one hell of a race car. Can it get any better?" And I say to you, random person talking to yourself...yes, yes it can get better.
Just in case the person in front of you doesn't spot the race car-ness of this beast they will sure as hell hear you coming. This thing is equipped with the finest ebay "mugen style" twin loop muffler, but that thing is just a decoy, the exhaust is actually broken shortly after the firewall making this thing sound like a true beast (see: broken lawn mower), and while it may give you some unwanted attention (see: police officers) it will definitely help warm your feet on those cold, thermostatless, winter mornings.
Now let's not forget that no car is complete without at least some type of aftermarket stereo and taking care of that is an Alpine CD player that appears as though it was installed around 1995, and while it may only play CD's about 50% of the time it's almost an antique so it's probably worth more than my asking price alone.
Ok, now seriously this thing is a gas sipper and I bought it in this condition and daily drove it for over a year only having to put in like $20 in gas every 2-3 weeks. Runs halfway decent and would make a good shell for a project car/parts car or just buy it and drive her till she blows the fuck up and leaves behind a mushroom cloud the size of arkansas. Car is definitely sold AS-IS, NO WARRANTY WHATSOEVER!!!! No test drives, I stopped the insurance on this thing back in november when I stopped driving it and the battery is probably dead anyway.
If anyone is actually interested in this thing, get a hold of me on here.
