While that does blow ass...we have been getting storms "like those" this year. I drove through one of the worst ones. Brother in law's parents lost their house...I'm not sure how the crops look around that area tho. Southern MN got hammered with I think an EF4 at the same time?

just feel lucky all you east side fuckers that you don't get storms like this...this was 5-6ft corn..... and the next was 60 bu wheat
I can not believe shit can just vaporize like that...
lucky we only lost 5 quarters of land, some others where not so lucky
Holy shit zac, thats pretty rough. Im just curious to where the material went? I dont see remnants of anything, only stalks with some roots.bubba;314071 wrote:
and it was only 5-6ft? My grandpa said the field behind his place is something like 11ft high right now...11ft? must not be yellow corn. possibly some sort of sorghum, but even then..

small-large hail coupled with a high wind will create a horizontal flying butcher knife that will pummel any crop/plant/tree in its path.yep, right on....
it doesn't have to be big... this stuff wasn't
the wind is what makes it ridiculous

Yeah, a year or two ago a huge hailstorm came through just outside of my home town and it looked exactly the same, the only place there was still corn was right up by the shelter belts and as you went out from there the height like drastically tapered off and then was just leveled to black dirt with stubs and roots in it.... crazy stuff

It almost looks as someone took a disc bine to it!
sorry for your loss, its tough to see a 220bu corn crop one day then nothing the next.

Holy shit Zach, that sucks (and is oddly awesome at the same time seeing the devastation)! Hopefully you guys have some good insurance to help cover at least the expenses
