I need some plastic - strong but flexible.

Looking to build a roof razor knock-off
    http://www.minnsnowta.com/

    ideas?
Thought about a tarp but I'm afraid that might not be slick enough on a roof without much pitch.
The big roll of plastic might not be strong enough.

I have one, not a 'roof razor' but a roof rake, they are cheap. Just go buy one.

Just the standard aluminum pull the shingles off type? We've got one of those as well, but I'd like to be as easy as possible on the shingles. I'd at least like prefer to get one of those with the wheels on them. Other option is to get some rubber fuel line and run across the bottom.
I'm also hoping that the roof razor style will make the project easier. The roof had at least a foot of snow prior to this batch, and it was miserable cleaning out the sewer vent Christmas day.

a piece of rubber on the end of the shovel isnt going to save the single, either. also, what harm is a foot of snow on the roof doing? its not like the roof is going to collapse... snow loads are designed for something like 38"

next time your sewer vent is clogged, pour water down it(even a running garden hose) and save yourself a headache.

I'd rather not 'test' that load limit on the roof. A foot is conservative, and more than I care for this early in the winter.
I dug the vent out because the top of the vent was 10" under the snow.

if you think a "conservative foot of snow" weighs more than 35lbs per square foot, knock yourself out.

just buy one like everyone else. If you have to get the wheels, then do that, but not worth making one..

Ask the experts, http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/disaster/winterstorm/roofsnowload.html Everything on the internet has to be true, I've been lucky, never had to shovel my roof. Seems like the wind is always blowing the snow right off.

It's at my parent's place and the last thing I need is my old man having a heart attack when I come sliding down the roof.
He got a little angry when I said I should just climb up there over Xmas. Need to get him out of town for a day (and pre-dial 9+1 on my phone).

If you fall off the roof whats the outcome? Landing in a 5' deep snow drift. If you had any stones you would be up there tonight in a chipmunk costume scurrying around on all fours pushing the snow off the roof with your nose.
