      ~June of this year. Q2.
      http://www.phonearena.com/phones/carriers/Verizon/upcoming

But I'm guessing BB is DOA. I was a WM fanboy for a long time, made the switch to Android becuase WM fell so far behind. WP7 is lame.

      I'll be pre-ordering the Droid Bionic 🙂

IMO, if you want an iPhone, switch over completely. I love my iMac and iPod/iPod Touch. I love that fact that everything works together so nicely without a whole bunch of 3rd party apps and drivers to download, etc. My fiance and I will be switching to iPhones once the Verizon gets their shit together with 4g. I have had an original Droid and I currently have a Droid Pro. I love the Droid Pro, except for the glitches. Also, for how small the screen is , the battery life is very poor. Much worse than my original Droid.

I switch phones constantly and I can attest to iPhoneOS being the smoothest and most complete experience. Some thoughts on each and the phones I owned:

BlackberryOS (9550 Storm2): The layout is nice, hardware is excellent (build quality, sound quality), but the software is glitchy and does result in the occasional hiccup. I didn't really mind it but the OS is getting a little dated and RIM needs to get the bugs out of it. When I used it I was on BBOS 5/6, I hear that 7 is coming out and maybe it is alot smoother now.

WinMo (HTC Diamond / HD2): The worst OS in the world. Avoid.

WinPhone7 (HTC HD7): I liked it. Butter smooth (almost smoother IMO than iPhoneOS) but lacking a lot of development. No copy/paste, no Adobe flash in browser, lack of apps in marketplace. Home screen is kind of ugly in any other color than blue or green. I never had one freeze up. Plus I thought the phone looked great.

Android Froyo/Gingerbread (HTC Desire HD, HTC EVO): Froyo was slower but I liked how HTC Sense looked, Gingerbread is a lot faster but there is no Sense for that yet. IMO both Froyo and Gingerbread without Sense is ugly. As much as people may disagree, App store for Android has much less selection than iTunes store, and games are of slightly less quality. This will change eventually, but this is how it is like for now. There is huge aftermarket support for rom flashes, though after a trying a few I got bored pretty quickly. OS is glitchy "sometime", definitely not as bad as BlackberryOS or WinMo, but I do reset maybe once every 1-2 weeks. Also, I should throw out that the battery life kind of sucks (especially on the EVO), often I will drain the battery entirely in one day, vs the iPhone where it will last me about 2-3 days on average with the same usage.

iOS (3G/3GS/4): I liked these, the 3G is a little too slow now for modern use but it is still good if you are on a budget. Facetime on the iPhone 4 is great, all phones should come with video call capability these days, and the picture is crystal clear. There is huge aftermarket support for these too in terms of hacks. The biggest plus for iOS is that it works, all the time, no matter what. It is an extremely stable OS, I have never had a crash with iOS. When you need to call it will call. I never need to reset, in a sense it is like a Honda. A huge drawback is the lack of Adobe Flash in Safari.

Anyways I'm still on the HTC Desire HD right now, it's a good phone and I've decided I need a 4.3" screen and can't go back to iPhone until they make one. I might pick up an HD7 again as I did like WinPhone7, albeit it's still a very new OS and lacking a lot of features.

On Verizon I would get the HTC Thunderbolt or iPhone 4. But personally if it were my money I would hold off on signing up a contract on a new phone until this summer, when a bunch of dual-core processor phones come out. It is a pretty big leap in terms of technology.

I'm still rocking WinMo 6.1 pro on my CDMA Treo Pro. Love the phone still, and will try to keep this form factor as long as possible.

WP7 has no copy/paste or flash support? That sounds like a downgrade from what I have right now. WM6.1 has flash...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

The Storm 3, or what ever they are going to call it, is suppose to come out late summer. However, after looking at the specs it appears to already be behind current phones.

One thing The Iphone has is more apps available. But remember this... The Iphone app market has been around for how many years? While the Android app market has been around for a little over a year. Look how many are becoming available daily. Many companies are jumping ship to the Android market because of its open source o/s and I expect that it wont take too long for that to be right on par with Apples. PLUS... way more freebies on the android market.
One other HUGE plus in my eyes is the google based nav on my phone. Totally saved me from buying an add on for my DVD or buying a Nav unit completley. Oh and battery life is WAY better than anything BB PERIOD! I can go a day and a half on heavy usage and 2 on normal usage.

BB messenger is the ONLY thing I miss from my BB.

Wes, your argument for that would be great except for one small thing...not just anyone can make an app for the iphone platform. They have WAY more restrictions, in the fact that the app cant be...shit. Unlike droid. I hate downloading apps and having them be complete shit.

Thats why I use reviews and people in the know to weed through all the BS apps before I DL them. I am merely stating what I have observed. Im not saying it is gosphel but, it is valid.

There is an application called something like PinChat that you can download on almost any smart phone that is almost exactly like BBM. BBM is the only reason I still have a BlackBerry. If BlackBerry started making a BBM applications for other phones, then I would go get a Driod phone. I'm waiting for the Bionic tho.

iPhone fans better be getting their plans and phones now; Verizon is planning to cut the unlimited data plan to iPhones this summer and use a pro-rated plan like they use with the Xoom. I hope they don't start cutting Android plans and pro-rating them...If so, Sprint will have another customer come end of my contract.

Unlimited data is a thing of the past.

                                    http://www.rethink-wireless.com/2011/03/03/verizon-introduce-data-caps-lte-handsets.htm

Sprint (clearwire) has been known to throttle bandwidth back after a few gb of usage, to almost nothing, there is a lawsuit open for this, and I heard it's gotten better.

But honestly, how the hell do you use more then 5gb in a month unless you are tethering?

I do tether. I would venture to guess I use around 15GB/mo on average (tethering and usage on phone included). I do notice after about 5GB that my speed is throttled down, but better that than nothing. One other thing I should note is that I normally only tether between midnight and 7am, during non-peak usage times.

Can't complain much if you are limited to 5gb then, you're using a service that should be paid for. I use like 300mb all month and I think I'm a fairly heavy smartphone user.

if you are using 15gb a month on a $20 data plan thn i hope you and all of the iphone users DO go to somewhere else. i use about 100mb a month and it would be nice if it worked better thn a dial up connection on the rare occasions i actually need it.

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.
