Duluth is usually pretty cool especially around spring/fall times with the wind coming off of Lake Superior. Probably head up there during middle of summer. Try somewhere else this time.

Coupled with the smoke from all that's burning up there, you're probably right.

Do a real tent. Also if you haven't already done so, head over to Gander Mountain. They have a 0° sleeping sack on sale for 70 bucks that's pretty nice.

If that wholesale sports place is still having a "going out of business sale" go there and grab a bag. I got a $200 Asolo 0° bag for 100.

X2 on the regular tent so you can use it any time, without needing a truck.

What about CC permit holders? I was under the impression that the law was changed recently to allow those..

Damn, GarageAlchemist already beat me to it. Itasca is a state park, MN has always allowed CCW permit holders to carry in state parks. It was legal to carry in federal parks too up until Obama was elected and passed an exec. order banning it. Republicans then put a clause in the credit card bill Obama passed like 2 years ago that re-allowed CCW permit holders to carry in federal parks.

I would avoid that Sportsman Warehouse...there is a reason they are going out of business...they BLOW. Everything, even with their 'sale' is way overpriced. Gander Mountain is the best place in town for that stuff, hands down.

Yea, Sportsmans Warehouse is ridiculus in their rifle/shotgun prices. I've seen stuff that has been used, priced many hundreds above the new prices at Gander/Scheels/Cabelas which are usually pretty close to eachother.

for guns, the outdoorsman by hornbachers on 13th is hard to beat. especially with there 0% interest layaway

edit: and they usually have a great selection of used guns. If you have never been there, definatley check it out.

So uh... don't even check sportsman out?

I am going to make a run tomorrow for some of the most basic essentials... and perhaps a new pack.

The advice is much appreciated fellas'

Fleet Farm has some good prices on such items as well. sometimes they arent always the cheapest. but definatley a place to look for outdoor gear.

prolly dont want to drive the beamer there though, lol. it might get hit by a cart.

I learned that Reeds in Walker has by far the best prices on guns. They advertise the guns at a price very similar to local Gander/Scheels but unlike those two, Reeds will deal with you on the price. I saved $150 on my last handgun I purchased by going through Reeds...even after paying the $20 to have it shipped to Moorhead.
