Slow Cars....
-
So now your mad that your parents didn't pay for your POS car?! Nobody ever said that running a 14.5 in the 1/4 was "fast" did they? But it's definitely a lot faster than what you can run. My Civic does run a 14.5 and it has a huge 140HP at the crank, by the way. Bring it on, I'll put down some cash. Oh and this is the slow car, if the fast car was up and running I wouldn't even bother wasting my time/breath/typing, etc.
I think we're still beating a dead horse here...... maybe a lock on this one finally?

No fast cars? Hyundai's only then? ::rimshot:: Anyways, let's talk numbers. Going to beat an S2000? An '01 S2000 runs 0-60 in 5.5 and the quarter in 14.1 @ 99.6mph. Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 (stock of course) will pull a 0-60 of 7.94 seconds and the quater in 16.42 @ 88.6mph. Not doubting that given enough money the Tiburon could be a real fireball, but smoking a stock S2000 (keep in mind that the new cars are a 2.2liter with more torqure as opposed to the 2001's 2.0liter) may be setting your sights a bit high. When can we expect to see the forced induction tiburon running around?

forgot to add that those numbers for a 2004 tiburon with 181hp are for the 6spd manual http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?modelid=11005&trimid=98310&src=VIP

Or maybe... you could stop looking and posting on this one... There has been some decent conversation as of late. You can beat me now, but I still think your car sucks, and you couldn't even touch 300WHP with that thing, and that's just MHO. Are you that lighter blue civic with a crappy body kit? Man I am tired of shitty looking slow cars. I am not that fast, I know this, I don't think or really say I CAN BEAT anyone in particular, but damn, half the stuff around here is just plain ghetto and crap. At least, I look like nice, stock, have leather, and a sun/moon roof and a decent system, stock. Beating a S2000 and a lot of other stuff in this area will be easy as pie with RIPP and NGM by my side. Pat, I know that's you, talk to you later.

Boosted B16/B18's are extremely responsive. Traction becomes an issue with FWD but a good suspension, some drag slicks and your off as GSR also displays with his integra. 300 whp is actually probally much easier to obtain in any honda I4 then it is your V6 quite frankly.

Gravedigger, one thing to remember is that dyno numbers don't mean squat. EVERY dyno is going to give a different HP rating on any given car. Hell, you'd be lucky to run identical HP & TQ numbers back to back on the same dyno. If these guys aren't dynoing on inertia dyno's w/ their tibby's (which I doubt they are, but this is just opinion) it really wouldn't surprise me to see 150 to 160 HP from them. Inertia dynos are going to be much harder to get high numbers out of. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your project, but PLEASE quit cocking off until YOU have done something to make your car faster than the vtec's in this area.

Wow, I don't want to do this to you jim and you all, but those numbers are way off. The auto takes a bigger loss, but my car dynos at 150whp, look around on the forums. I couple morons have a auto I4, and that would be closer to 135-140whp, but the V6, auto or manual dynos at least 150WHP, and usually just a little more, but I will cut it down to 150 just for you guys. But it only makes 129whp out of a 3.0 V6....?? It's a 2.7 Jim, maybe you were tired or confused. I am sure you math was right, but the V6 is NOT at 129. Sorry man.... I would gladly dyno myself now if it wasnt like $75, when that one is in town, but I usually don't have that kind of cash, and no my parents have nothing to do with my car, unlike some people, I pay for fuking everything, that's why I am usually broke. I bet your parents helped with yours though....So let me get this straight, the I4 with 135 hp (used to be rated 140), can put down 140 hp at the wheels? Why are you calling them morons? Negative drive line loss percent? And you said I don't know anything about cars? Didn't know you had an auto. Why would any person who wants to drive fast get a fricken auto if they could have gotten a stick? I bet I can take you with my intrepid. How sad is that? And if not, I'll just grab the lowly VTEC 2.2

GraveDigger should get a dyno done before modding so we know what his car is putting down, as it can differ from car to car even. Make sure it is one you can get back on after you've done some work though so you can get a real comparison.
I for one would like to see a fast tibby because it is the last thing I would expect to be fast. I've seen/dealt with enough Civics to expect most of them to be pretty quick.

Timeslips of tibby's among other cars.

"Deduct 23-26% drivetrain loss for tiburons automatic transmission"
Alright, Gravedigger, your telling me that V6 auto tiburons, make 150whp on the dyno. That would mean that they would have roughly 12% drivetrain loss. No fucking way!
However, I glady welcome you to prove me wrong. Get on the dyno and show us the numbers!

Gives a look at the Tiburon and what C&D feels is this cars market competition.
-
Here's from the article:
"Reasonably well, but the Tiburon is not excellent at any task, and once you've savored the deal, the rest of the car is never inspiring. Acceleration by most measures trails the others', although occasionally the Tib nips ahead of the Toyota as it does in 0-to-60 times: 7.1 seconds versus 7.3. On the skidpad its 0.82-g grip edges only the Mitsubishi. Nearly the same story in braking, too, where the Tiburon shades the Eclipse by one foot and the Acura by three. Put another way, you could say Hyundai braking and Hyundai acceleration can play in the same league with the famous brands, which they surely do.
The engine lacks thrills, too. It peaks fairly low, far below the 6500-rpm redline, and offers no encouragement above 5000."

If ya want the cliff notes....
