Does any body use a pucked clutch
-
Save yourself the trouble and get a new one... they are cheap. If you are cheap just remember to grease it up again..that shit gets annoying real fast.

I would bet that if the clutch from the mr2 will work in your car so will the throw out bearing that is listed for that clutch. As for that clutch, if its indeed a true trd product, I wouldnt be scared of it....have you found a plate for it yet?
I hope you dont plan on trying to slip that one........
-
Yep the plate I found is the matching TRD plate for the clutch I showed you. But for some reason it doesnt come with a throw out bearing (as far as I know) I will order a factory thorw out bearing then from toyota for a MR2 and we will see how it goes, thanks for your opinion and help.

What I am trying to say is you do not want a 4 puck, and if I was you I wouldn't even go with a 6 puck. Having only run pucked clutches in my life (other than when I had my DSM, and even then I made the mistake to try a sprung 6 puck) I am in the process of completely switching away from them. They are too violent engagement wise, and I would rather deal with replacing discs once and awhile than to snapping other drivetrain pieces.

Ah I see that makes sence I guess, well I think I am going to try that 3 puck TRD clutch and if I dont like it I will just get a different one, I am always up for new things so a try wont hurt anything, This TRD one looks pretty sweet, It is a Japan only clutch and they ussually make pretty good shit so I am going to try her, I will let you guys know how it goes.

well, it is intersting, I got it all in, might I add the LSD rocks real glad i got that unit, and the new gears in the tranny are great. pulls hard in all the gears. The pucked clutch is real intersting though, I havnt killed it yet, drove around for like an hour in heavy traffic, but it does chatter a bunch if you dont do things just right, it is really great when you are on it and shifting through the gears, I dont mind the chatter ness, I just worry that it is breaking something, it just sounds bad sometimes.... Is there anything that can break cuz of that? thanks.
-
Sure. Pucked clutches engage hard enough that they can break differentials, axles, etc. That is why I myself am switching back to a street disc. There is no way to "preload" the drivetrain with a pucked clutch and that is what tends to break shit.
-
hum... well, I will drive it for a bit here and see if i get any better at driving it, the thing is I love that thing when i am already going along, but the thing i dont like is starting out from a stop and worring about breaking something. It is something I am going to have to decide here.
-
Any fresh aftermarket clutch will engage nice when driven hard when it is new.

I have a pucked clutch in my integra right now that I'm too lazy to pull out that I can slip like a street disc. That's not right either.

-
alright here is a question for all of you pucked people, so I was really thinking of getting rid of my disk, cuz it was so harsh, but i went driving today and it got less harsh.... is it because of the weather or do they kinda break in and get a little less harsh ya know what im saying? Thanks please fill me in on this.

Well it really wouldn't be an instant change. How many pucks were on the clutch? If there are less than 6 I would ditch it just because it will continue to be a pain in the ass. 6 pucks are livable, but not what I am personally looking for anymore.
That or I'm getting old and I'd just rather deal with street discs.
