Potential?Worth it?

Right now I would be using it as a daily driver. As in many other posts and threads I have stated that i dont want a manual as a DD just because I think it would be a pain. But down the road thousands of dollars later after I have another car I would.
3 things i couldn't live without.........

theres a supercharged maxima in this town already just FYI...but it is newer and it is a manual...i think with the problems that car has it isnt worth the $3k....look around for something that doesnt have weird problems...why doesnt the taillight fit right? Why dont the gauges work? That car could have some weird electrical problems for all you know...

i can tell you right now that car is beat the f^ck out of my buddy test drove it and it died like 3 times on the test trive... if thats the one from premier auto

I have a 95' Maxima that has higher miles, but I know it runs good, has a cf hood, lowered, HID's, 5 tv's, etc, etc. and I would sell that for around the same price as that other maxima.... If you actually have the cash and are interested, let me know
IMO that Maxima is extremely overpriced...I would pay $1000-$1200 for it

I would say that car is certainly not worth it. Sounds like it's in terrible shape for a Nissan at 111,000 clicks. Maybe it's just a blown fuse causing the bad power windows and gauges but then why would you try to sell it like that if that was all that's wrong?
I also can't imagine doing an atx to mtx swap on any car would be worth it unless you could get all the crap needed for next to nothing. There is more to it than just swapping in a tranny and a stick.

buy my 92 fwd 5spd dsm for 1300 has clear corners, Altezzas =), crush velvet interior, magnaflow tip, blue headlights and reverse lights, white carbon glo gauges, white hvac's, new motor, 91 gst rims, and factory spoiler if you want it. all for 1300 want 1500 obo

I will make a comment here.
You are asking for potential. Well, Maximas are nice cars. It will get you around great and you will probably like it. If you feel the need to put in a big booming stereo, then it would be a good car for that too.
But then I see you talking about horsepower and such. Well, that is not a car you want to do that to, since you will be throwing money to the wind. If you want a sports car, buy a sports car. Insurance is not as bad as you might think if you shop around.
There are plenty of other cars to look at if you are looking for something "performance oriented". You could go with a small roadster, such as a Miata. There are sport coupes such as an RX7. There are ponycars, such as a Mustang. All these cars should be within your budget.
