Why doesn't anybody race?
-
Yes and no. IMO the race dates were WAY to spread out for the buzz to get going in the import community this season. Add to that lots of people having mechanical problems and whatnot and I don't think the racing at the track was as good as it could have been.
Overall though, I think the scene has matured. Still a ways to go of course, but more mature none the less. Lots of people adding more go fast parts the way it seems and people actually are starting to not drive like idiots on public roads. The show scene was pretty good this year as many of us attended the Tintmasters show as well as shows in Devils Lake, Winnipeg, and Mpls among other places.
All in all a good year for cars and car people, but a bad year for racing.

The Supra is gone and the Dsm I am not sure about. But like I said 10cars at best. Besides Smalls hatch, which is in the cities now, there really isnt any import cars here. Cavaliers and the local beat up bitch cars that everyone has owned from time to time that will never run.
The sad thing is, that most of these kids wont even go and race, most will just rev on you and tell you there stock Prelude runs 14.5 stock and talk mad uneducated shit.Cant wait to get out of this Shit Hole.

Damn last time I saw a import in Bismarck throwin down 13's was well never. You guys think you have it bad. Terrible here. Mabey 10 fast imports in town. Fast classified by a low 14 and down. So pathetic here. Stock Preludes own the road, wtf??? Sad when my stock MAXIMA SE 5spd can hand damn near 90% of the imports there ass. Wanna make some money come here and race. Intake and Exhaust is fully built around here.....Fucking Rednecks
you talking bout barnesville? i cant stand it there. coming from seattle washington to a village of 2000 people, just made me cry.

I think the last fast Dsm in Bismarck was Nick Thompsons old one??? White? If I remeber correctly.
3 owners later and It probally still doesn't have a transmission in it.
Its hilarious when someone even buys a fast car somewhere else, cause no one here can fix, or tune the damn thing ever. -

So did the scene get better this year?(Dead thread reincarnation, I was talkin with Jim about this one about half an hour ago)
Wouldn't hurt to start working on this problem now so we can look forward a decent summer and maybe spark some interests. Everyone should list best places and why they think that, and try not to shoot down any possibilities because options are very limited.

I'm headin overseas at the end of the month, so I'm already scouring the internet for parts, haha. I finally got off the summer rotation, so I will be at the track this year.

1: all it takes is one group of 'street racers' to get caught to exponentially increase the 'heat' on the autmotive scene in the area. I won't feel bad when (you) come bitching next summer about how you were 'targeted' and get pulled over for any little thing.
2: I know you guys are going to do it.. so here's a better idea. Take it to a private forum...

I guess I don't know how bad it was here before, I was not around here in Texas we would let the police know where we were hanging at we also notified all the people that were associating with us that cops had an eye on us. That worked smoothly for us, not saying that it would work here. I also wouldn't like getting pulled over for other's wrong doings. What we did in Texas eliminated that problem, in a town a little bit smaller than fargo.

I dunno how it's 'done' here, but back home we usually gathered up at a strip mall that's right off the interstate. That way, everyone can BS together and no store owners are around to call the cops. The only cars that head out are the 2 racing, and MAYBE a camera car. It works out well because the next exit is 3 miles North, and it's a 3 lane straight shot that hardly has anyone on it around 10 pm on Saturday since it's not near a major city.
Either way, I'm here this summer, so I'm gonna be looking to socialize in Fargo. If that means slummin the whole summer in a parking lot trying to act cool and pimp the jailbait, I guess that will be my summer story.

I'm down for either.
But as I told Jim earlier, unless $$ is on the line, I don't care if I win or lose. I don't care if I get chewed up and shat out by Nick's GS-R, or if I make a Cavalier owner run home crying. I enjoy beating the shit out of my car, and will find any excuse to do so.

I don't think there is a parking lot we're allowed in anymore. Too many people doing burnouts, donoughts, or driving at high rates of speed. Any experience I've had with FPD has been good when they've come to kick us out, basically because nobody has been issued a citation, but no matter how you look at it they're enforcing the no loitering policies that many store owners have put up due to the number of people screwing around in their lots.
