i think cody sold me my laptop to. i just flat out said gimme the laptop i dont want anything else besides your 3 yr warranty for extra.
he went to do somethin and another salesman kept askin me questions "what do you use for anti spyware" i said ad aware, he says some cheesy line like ad aware was rated 5th outta 6th programs, and spysweeper was ranked 1st and it can be yours for 30 bucks. i said nah.
i came home and downloaded spysweeper anyways.

It sucks to hear about a bad experience like that, I know i've a few at some other stores but best buy has always seemed to be a good experience for me. I bought a vaio pc a while back, no problems whatso ever, then again I had cash in hand at the time. I haven't had anything computer oriented done there except buying some games since then though. I've always had peope ask if I needed help though. If I'm in there in the future to buy anything I'll just try to avoid that bastard. Who needs to buy antivirus software anyways when you can pirate.....um I mean download it off the internet.

also on a side note, you would be amazed at some of the uber fuck-ups that best buy makes with thier geek squad team when they're 'fixing' people's computers. then people take them to me and i get to undo the damage by best buy. my personal recommendation...do NOT ever have the geek squad work on your computer.

I have boughten two laptops from Best Buy. My first one was a Compaq at the Fargo store, can't really remember what happened, but I was cool with it. My second one was at the Richfield store, this is the best Best Buy store in the country, well..that's what the people at the Apple Valley and Burnsville store told me. The Richfield store is the best due to it being located two blocks away from the Coporate Campus, this store supposely has everything. No doubt, the people here are really nice, the guy who sold me the laptop offered all the plans and I turned him down. Right after he offered me the $150 anti-crap, he said don't get it.
Still wondering why Circuit City and Comp USA have yet to make their way up there....

your desktop will outperform a laptop of the same specs 9times outta 10...centrino is kind of a crock of shit really...the only thing that makes it "centrino" is the M proccessor and the wireless card...i guarantee i can get the same battery life out of my laptop(with new battery) as someone with the same laptop with the centrino bullshit...if you have a laptop with a desktop chip of course the battery life is gonna suck...thats used to running on a basically unlimited power supply...also that 64 bit processor isnt good for shit unless your running 64 bit windows and 64 bit software....gateway has really cheaped up since they almost dropped outta the market...a couple years ago i wouldnt have recommended anything else BUT a gateway...you need to remember the processor/video and on board stuff like that is more important to buy right away than a bigger hd/more ram etc cause that stuff can be upgraded easier than a processor(it can be done but a lot of times the specs of the board etc cause it to be a pain in the ass)...i love my centrino, the battery lasts six hours.............:p

From what I was told about w/ Best Buy is each stores goes off of a demographic area.. For ex: 1 store may be known for it's Video Dept like TVs etc. and what not..
Another 1 may be better known for it's Computer dept. depending on demographics, and the store is kind of setup for those areas.. -
How much cheaper would it cost to build a gaming PC compared to buying one?

So I went in to best buy today to purchase a laptop, and had a bad experience.- I waited for 30+ min for a salesman
- The guy tried to tell me that the computer would cease to function without upgrading the ram.
- My computer would "die" if I didnt purchase antivirus and antispyware from them
- If I installed my own ram, it would void the factory warranty, but it would be covered by best buys plan
After I told him no to all of the bull shit, he went and on the computer he looked it up and it said "2 in stock" and he comes back and tells me that they dont have any more.
I fucking hate it when people try to tell me about simple shit on computers, and then this douche bag was mad enough that I didnt purchase all this shit to tell me they dont have any in stock when i specifically saw on his computer "2 available in store".
I could tell he was lying becuase he like scurried off in a hurry, if he had been actually trying to sell me anything he would have shown me other products or told me when it'd arrive.
This fat fuck's name is joel, and I hope somebody on here works there so you can tell him he's a piece of shit.
Oh, and screw it, I just ordered one from Dell fuck that place.
I dealt with that little shit when I helped my roomate buy a computer. He has to be the stupidest fucker there. He pulled all the same shit on us when we went there that he pulled on you. Fuck Best Buy.
I have to get them to fix my laptop. I made the mistake of buying a laptop from them. Never again will I buy a computer, or anything of value from Best Buy
