Here's some info. on the SRT-10..
500 HP/525lb-ft of Torque
6-spd Manual Tranny : V-10 8.3 LiterOff of the Hennessey Site.
http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennesseyperformance/Dyno.php?cart=bsmBbnZgWorld's Quickest RAM SRT-10: 10.88 @ 127MPH
It's equipped w/ a Venom Twin Turbo..World's Most Powerful Ram
A nice thing with the SRT-10 is being that it is equipped w/ the Viper engine, giving it some aftermarket support.. Engine wise..
SRT-10 Vipers (modded) are into the 8s being street legal..http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennesseyperformance/ListItems.php?cart=texUZyPw&DoThis=Dodge+Ram+SRT10&ActionReq=Where
This site gives a few upgrades for the RAM SRT-10 i.e., lowering systems, upgrade clutch systems, Cold Air, Engine Upgrade Mgmt., Exhaust, And most of all the Venom 800/1000 TT setups; the 800 costs at a measly $42,000; that's quite a hefty chunk of change..V10R - VENOM 800R - 605 CID Stroker Motor Upgrade
605 CID (10 Litres). 725 - 850 HP. Naturally aspirated.
^^ This was another Option, if you didn't want to go F/I ^^A simple Breakdwon comparing the SRT-10 Ram Vs. The lightning..
A website w/ all the need-to-know info.
http://www.anderson-ford.com/lightningvsram.htmThey compare prices, drivetrain, weight, 0-60's, etc.
They believe that the Overall choice is the Lightning..
I think Towing is probably irrelevant, since if you buy a truck like that; you probably won't be buying it to tow stuff, otherwise you'd buy a truck more practical.Anyways; rated by C&D, (as we all know, they sometimes 'can' drive, and sometimes can't drive the car very well) The SRT-10 w/o F/I holds the faster ET
and even could upgrade to that 800 n/a and pull a faster net ETSo my choice, I figure I'd let the opinion of Style/Trim sway me, and I like the looks of the SRT-10 over the Lightning, (being... an Opinion obviously)
But the more I think about it, the Ford Lightning, and the SRT-10 Ram seem to have a weird thing in common, except worked out in Opposite..
The Lightning debuted before the Ford GT.. <-- Obvious Recent models
The SRT-10 Ram came out after the Viper-SRT10, but both have the same engine in both a car and truck. .If, $$$ was no option to me, I'd go the SRT-10 Ram Route, and throw on the Venom1000TT and have a daily-driven SRT_10 Truck that can net a 10 sec ET or faster no problem, pretty darn crazy for a truck..
But view the site that compares the two; you'll recieve a lot of information from both sides and you can come upon a decision on what you think is better based upon what you think is better or more important.. I view ET's and Speed to wager quite a bit into that..

There was a video where they compared the SRT-10 Viper and Ford GT on a track course, well.. The SRT-10 was ahead until the driver took a corner too fast and went overboard.. but between the two they were quite close.. Viper SRT-10 is cheaper, than the Ford GT, and the Ford Lightning is cheaper than the SRT-10 Ram..

wrong.
Same cubic inch, GT has twice as many cams.
Lightning.
pulley, Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust (IIRC), and time on the dyno (so what, $1200?) and 400rwhp/500rwtq.
Then hook it up to your trailer, load up the race car, head to the track and race them both. -
The video explained that they Ford GT's engine originated from the Lightning, and I didn't mean that they were exact sames, and w/ trucks being heavier, the drivetrains aren't exactly the same I'm sure either..
but I'd take the SRT-10 Ram over the Lightning..

Lightning does have a large aftermarket following, and have I have always had a thing for them. I dont know for alot less money and being able tow and haul things I would have to stick with the Ford, sad really it is as I would rather not ever have to own one again.

and the drivetrains aren't within 10 miles of each other.. GT is a Mid engine RWD super car with a 6speed, L is a front engine RWD truck with an automatic.

Ya, if you couldn't tell, I said they weren't exactly the same, but meant to say they were similar.... Top Gear, Had the Lightning truck there, and I swore I remember hearing it was pretty much the same engine. But I forget.. Yes, I'm sure the Lightning's have an aftermarket support out, since they've been out longer, however, seems Ford is going to hell in a Hand basket, so I'll pass

Wrong. Its not that much faster than the lightning. The 2005 SRT10 runs a 13.5@106mph. A 2001 Lightning runs a 13.7@101mph. The SRT10 isn't that much faster considering how much bigger the motor is.
Isnt the srt-10 heavier? I would think the lighting would beat it stock.

WOW forgot I even started this thread been a while since I logged in see a new look even....
one thing is you don't buy a truck like the lightning, cyclone, or srt-10 to haul shit... your just a mornon if your doing that... that's like buying a truck slaming it to the ground and wanting to actually use it off road or even in the winter after a heavy snow before the plows have gone....
not sure on the stats of the 1/4 miles but according to that video link it's one fast ass truck for a factory truck on the 1/4 mile
2nd yes they are talking top speed on the truck it's like just under 160 on the srt i think the lighting is just over 150 but from what i remeber on the lighting didn't the reviewers say it was one scary ride at that speed where they say the srt is actually heald to the ground with that wing?
