Well its been 1 1/2 years sitting at calebs. I get a different story evertime I go in there.
Ranging from "Im sick of working on it, I dont know whats wrong with it." or "I will start on it when I get this car done."
I paid him cash do buy parts. So far I have a $550 white supra door to match my red car. He says he's gone through 2-3 headgaskets and its still leaking.
I gave him a working car. It was running fine when I gave it to him 1 1/2 years ago. He told me it overheated one night and blew the headgasket. I dont really believe him. Basicly im thinking that was a stall tactic.
I want my car back! Everytime I go in there I leave disappointed. If I sue I get my car back in parts and im out the money.
What the hell is his problem?

Seems odd that he would burn bridges like that. I cant imagine a business owner ruining there name and reputation like so.
Really sucks its not running now as well. Id say do what you have to do, put personal issues aside, one and a half years is more than enough time. If its not then if he was any sort of reputable shop he would want your stuff done asap as to keep a customer happy and clinet base happy. The best advertising is going to be word of mouth, esp for a small shop like him and stuff like this does not look good for him. If it is how he is going to get things done, or not get things done, then people should know as to avoid having the same prob.

Your not the only one who is waitin to get shit done with him.
welcome to the club.

Be point blank blunt when you go in. Tell him that he has 1 or 2 weeks maximum to get it done. If he can't get it done by then tell him you will be taking the car....then take it whether it is done or not. Period. I don't blame you man, whether I am a friend of his or not is irrelevant. You're getting screwed. Tell him to fix the door and you'll deal with the headgasket yourself.
-
So you have paid him for stuff that isn't even finished.....well, you have a door, and he has your car in pieces. 1 to 2 weeks to finish, take it back, in pieces or not. He hasn't fixed your car at all, so he is out of time and money, not you. Your not paying him to let it sit in pieces. If he doesn't refund money you have paid him, take him to small claims.

damn thats year and a half....
mine was sitting about a year and 3 months...
sucks man i know...get it to another shop...and bring him to small claims

geez... I can't see how people can do something like that. I have been doing work here and there for people and when I say I am going to get it done I keep my promise and work my ass off to ensure I keep it. A year and a half is nuts, I would have been going crazy after 3 months. Go and heel him to get his ass in gear, because that is unacceptible.

Caleb is a good guy, I dont think he is intentionally screwing you over. If he has gone through 3 headgaskets, it is possible, just not likely. Could be an extremely warped head or even a cracked head. those 7m motors had their headgasket problems.
Ditch it and get a 1jz. front clip aint that much.
that being said. just show up there whenever you have free time and bug him about it. 1.5yrs is a bit absurd. that being said, it is taking up room in his shop. I dont think he would intetnionally have it there for 1.5yrs without working on it. Even if he did, thats 1.5yrs of free indoor storage!!! gotta look at the bright sides of things every once in a while, lol!

yeah he was nice when i talked to him.
i just plan on never doin business with him again.

When I bought the car. I took it right too my mancanic I wanted a tune up. The person who owned it before me was told by a toyota dealer. That the whole engine needed to be replace which would cost him $2500! So the guy sold it on ebay and I got a real good deal.
Well when I went to pick the car up. Low and behold it ran perfect no overheating nothing. I loaded it up on a car dolly just to be safe towed it home. The tune up was like $300 some small parts had tobe replaced. My mancanic looked at the head and said theres nothing wrong with it.
The main reason why I took it to caleb was to replace the trim around the door. Someone thought that taking sheet rock screws and screwing them through the door to hold the trim on would work.
So I bought trim on ebay which came off a turbo supra. Caleb said the trim wouldnt work because its not turbo trim. So I bought more trim off another turbo supra. Guess what that magicly doesnt work either!
I admit im not a car wiz. But I think the trim on a non turbo and a turbo are the same.
thanks for the advice!

He told me that there wasnt enuff work for him in fargo. So he desides to fly to washington and help his buddy out.
Hes coming back this week and hes going to call me when he gets too the shop. Wishful thinking! Not enuff work? My car not work? what about other peoples cars. He talks about how busy he is and when I go over there. Hes playing games on the computer or smoking that must be some important work?
Anyway I will have a talk when he gets back.

I know my biggest mistake was paying him. I think he took my money and paid his rent or something instead of buying parts. Which I probably dont need. This whole headgasket thing is just a scam I think.
One time I went in and said if you dont fix my car. I want my 550 back. He goes off and tells me about parts he bought for my 300zx which he never put on. Which then tells me that he only owes me like $300.

1 and a half years.....wow. You have a lot of patients.Free storage I look at it like that. Driving a rwd turbo car in the winter is not my thing. Thats what I got my awd safari for. Plus I have other cars drive. If that was my only car I would be piss off.
Seeing how I droped my car off in sep/oct 2004. I havent missed much but its adding up. I could have drove that car for summer/fall/spring 2005. He told me that once the snow melts 2006. I would be driving it well no snow no car yet! Basicly kiss another year gone we will see.

I just dont understand him. I brought him other cars of mine and he got them done in less then a half hour. Installing a stereo or replacing a wheel bearing.
This supra thing im just puzzle. I would be happy if he could put one part back on once a week. He cant even do that.
Does he have money? To me it looks like its gone before I walk out the door. So how can you sue someone that doesnt have money.
Caleb does good work and his prices are nice. But I learned my lesson by now.
