There had to have been more to provoke a fight then just getting jumped, its a really really rare occassion for a fight like that to break out unprovoked. I mean they could have picked any 6 white guys to jump, why these ones?
Perhaps the full story should be heard before we make judgements, is 30 on 6 unfair? Yeah, but what was actually going on.
Regardless if he's 17 or not, if you beat somebody up badly enough to go to the hospital, and you have a legitimate case, they will get in trouble. If he's a foreigner (as in not a US Citizen) there are certainly reprecussions for breaking the law. People don't just "get away" from it becuase they are "foriegn".
Haha I think it's funny that you are so fucking racist. Generalizing boznians as not respecting the country or the laws of it, is quite the statement to make. You can't group an entire race as acting one way or another. You can make judgements only on individuals.
White kid vs. White kid, the same outcome would have happened; don't fool yourself. You think bosnians actually get off easier from the police then white people do? You've got to be kidding me.
As with any case, ignorance of the law is not an excuse, and noboyd just "gets away with it."
With people calling them Turban Ninjas, making claims about how they are all criminals and don't respect the country, and calling them bin laden (with relation to ji had) (which further shows your ignorance), I can understand perhaps why they would be mad.
If the full story is, they just jumped the 6 people for no reason, then yes, they are a bunch of fucks. I doubt that. Also don't kid yourself that white people have it "rougher" then minorities.
If the kid who got the shit kicked out of him was smart, he'd get a lawyer figure out any kind of legal action he can take, and he'd immediately press charges with the police regardless of the suspected outcome. That is, unless theres more to the story.

Simply put.. There are a lot of Stereotypes in this scenario..
You may actually think about them getting away w/ a lot, but don't you think for ex: the cops on the streets maybe single them out in some sort?? Just as they do ricers/racers??
I think the main problem is the local legal system in general. Let's say.. Your "shit" got jacked out of your car, and you maybe even catch the guy who did it w/ secure proof.. It more-so strikes me as they only get a slap on the wrist versus any big means of punishment... Probably the following is what happens, in this type of case: a person convicted of the crime has to pay back all damages, etc(restitution) maybe go on probation, community service, and have it on their record.. now here's where the loopholes come in, most ppl who are stealing don't have the funds themselves if they have to pay the restitution back themselves, therefore they can usually just prolong the payments back to a point where it may almost be forgotten about, or what not. everything gets delayed and the seriousness of the matter decreases.... I have had friends who have been victims of this, and also the rather opposite who have been friends w/ the criminal.. (the particular one I am thinking of is a friend who stole $$$ from another friend, large amt.), I don't think he's paid them back in Full yet, and it's been several years. 3+, it took him several things to all add up before he even went to prison, which was only like 8 months, and came out w/ a clean slate.. I don't even think he's on probation anymore. or when he was released..
But the point is, I wouldn't be to biased as stereotyping any race as far as any judicial crime thing goes.. But I don't doubt, the law enforcement doesn't see these stereotypes themselves, and kind of follows them.

I totally agree with you Jim. The people he was standing by deserved it not cody. Cody had nothing to do with the bosnians that beat him up. Didnt know them or have any confrontation with them previously. It was not right for him to get the beat down. And i am not grouping every bosnian. I have some bosnian, black, asian, indian friends. I am the most unracist person there is. But the fact is, that, everytime you here about something that has to do with some bosnian people, its always the same group of bosnian kids that it is. Doing something stupid and not listening to the law.

assault with what can be considered a deadly weapon will land them jail time. you're not goin to sit on cloud 9 just cause you were called a name, doesn't give you any right to fuck his jaw up, break somebody nose and crack a rib...ever heard of freedom of speech anyways? Nothing courts can do about that.
tell em to take em to court when they find him.

brass knuckles are considered a dangerous weapon, and by north dakota law the only people that can carry them are those who have a concealed weapons permit that is valid in north dakota, and im sorry to say, if the kid was 17, he didn't have a concealed weapons permit....just my .02

it sounds like the bosnian ran up...punched a couple kids in the face with his brass knuckles then everyone took off except for the 2 on the ground??
So did the othe rpeople just stand and watch or what....i know i wouldnt let one of my friends get his ass kicked without jumping in...
either way he should take him to court for sure....ikm sure his hospital bill will be a shitload.....even if he did punch him first it shouldnt matter...since the bosnian had used a weapon.

yeah why did they just sit there after the buddy got punched... wouldnt you have chased the guy that hit him or somthing .........so is this what happend he ran up punchd him and ran away the other guys stood there like wtf... as there buddy on the ground has a broken jaw?? dosnt sound right to me...

And continued to get his ass beat until the rent-a-cop cam around the corner. He got a broken nose, cracked rib, and a couple of stitches to his eyebrow.

Having been in a situation like this I will offer up what I know based on my own personal experience.
If the kid filed a police report then he needed to specifically name someone that was in the group, and the police report had to be as specific as possible. If cameras caught it or other people saw it and can point out the person then that will help also (only problem being that you can't put a minor in a lineup as far as I know). If a detective gets a hold of some of them and he is a good detective, then he will get the names of all that were there. The detective will sort out the story and figure out who needs to be charged and if they have enough evidence to charge anyone.
Now, the brass knuckles aren't able to be proven, but what can be proven is that there are broken bones. Any time that a bone is broken it is moved from assault to aggrivated assault, but getting the aggrivated assault charge is a bitch, trust me, when I was in a similar situation, one of the people got off with assault instead of aggrivated due to the fact that his lawyer convinced the judge that there is no bone in the nose to be broken, only cartilage.
Now, on to the shittiest part of all. You (being everyone in general) CANNOT sue a minor for a crime like this. If it does go to trial, then it will be "The State VS. the kids" and anyone who was on the shitty end of the fight will be considered a victim/witness and not a plaintiff.
If they are convicted then there will be restitution paid to those with injury/personal damage, but thanks to the system all that means is they have to pay you some time before you die.
When I was jumped I was 16, I was jumped by 9 guys aged 15-22, I got in my car and was pulled over on the way home (driving while in shock is a bitch). Of the nine guys, the two adults went to prison (one for 1 year, one for 6 years-he had other charges pending), 1 went to juvi for 8 months followed by 1 year probation, and another minor got 1 year of probation. All nine had to pay the restitution, how much each paid was dependent on what they did during the whole situation. Of the 9 that were charged, all pled guilty except the four I mentioned above, and of those four that went to trial, I was only asked to be at one of them (the no bones in the nose guy).
Now, like I said, you know what I know based off of my personal experience. Any more questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer what I can.

It is hilarious that the race cards is drawn. Not for the fact your friends were pickin on them, pushing and using hatefull racial terms towards them or him, but because when something like this happens, everyone acts shocked.
It seems ludacris at best that in this day and age, North Dakota is so far behind in the multi racial game that it is brought on by nothing other than the residents who provoke the drama and are to damn ignorant to get along with each other.
Further more I agree fully with Jims statements and think its retarded to evem argue with his idiology. Race may be the underlaying problem, but if thats how you look at it then you are only feeding to the issue at hand.
So 30 non caucasian kids "jumped" 6 white kids, let it be any non caucasian race, and you would think its justified after hearing about how, 3 or 4 white kids one week prior were picking on one single Bosnian. So in what is the difference???
Im sure there will be much flamming on my behalf but I did live in Fargo for 10years of my life and have met many different people from the region, and else where around the world for that matter of every race, and every local demographic has good and bad people why are you putting race first???...

Not to defend the racism and whatnot but you can't just really say that race doesn't play a factor. Say there are (random picked numbers) 4,000 bosnians, 10,000 mexicans, 10,000 blacks and 70,000 caucasians in a town (Fargo/Moorhead). Now say 100 from each ethnicity commits a crime. Which ethnicity has the highest crime rate? Not saying it's really fair to say that and i do not want to be seen as justifying the racisim but you have to see where im comming from. There arent a whole lot of bosnians in this town yet you constantly hear about them being involved in trouble and whatnot. I rarely hear about black people or mexicans or any other race other than whites and bosnians being involved in shady activities around here, especially on FS. So maybe white people and bosnians both are fairly profiled because a) bosnians might have a higher per-capita ethnicity-wise crime rate and whites just have too many of us to not be problematic. No clue if this is true or not, but just something I thought of. Asians don't even really count because they dont break the law other than hacking
