I have to make a second post, THATS how funny this comment was...

2.4L gets 30 mpg, so, if you do the math, since a honda engine gets 30 mpg, ANY engine they make will get 30 mpg!

So if HONDA made 8.0 liter V10, NASA would be knocking at honda's doors in order to get that engine to power their next trip to pluto....

      Classic....this thread is awesome.

Dammit, I didn't see the original post, but my 350hp LS1 gets 31 MPG cruising at 80mph. My SRT with 250whp only got about 26 MPG at best:D

I'll sum it up for you.

              Basically.

Muscle car owners think they are hot shit when they aren't.
a 5.0 liter will have mote hp because it has mroe cylinders
If Honda made a 5.0 liter engine, it would have double the hp as an aerican with the same displacement, and still get 30 mpg
Since an indy honda engine is only 3.5L, if a honda 5 liter would come out, it would be used to power jets.

Muscle care motors use a ton of oil, get poor gas mileage, and are no longer the top of the food change.

              Imports rule, domestics rule.

              The typical ricer arguements...

Ahh yes, I've seen this ricer argument before.

Even if Honda did make a 5.0 V8 that made 600hp it would probably only make 140 ft/lbs of torque@9000 rpm

                😄 JK

                    HAHAHA!!! naws...

v8, v6, 4cyl, whatever.. it's all about weight-to-power, and how well it can be put to the ground 🙂

                    but isn't that obvious? :icon_scratch:

One thing ive wondered, isn't it true that usually the smaller components are the more efficient they are? I was watching some engineering program where they can make jet engines that are the size of a stamp that are MANY MANY times more efficient than regular jet engines just because efficiency increases as size decreases. With that being the case, isn't it obvious that a 4cyl will be more efficient than 8 cylinders most of the time? I dont know what im trying to prove with all this just figured id say it 😄

Well I jsut insured my muscle car yesterday, and even though it isn't anywhere near as nice as my honda, its more fun to drive, and the fact I have 400hp is kinda fun too. I agree on the engine theory, the smaller engines always seem to run longer and stronger than the big v6 and v8 engines, but I think that is because there is less moving parts and lighter parts. Plus most imports weigh a lot less than domestic cars, meaning less stress on the engine to move them, now compair my 79 TA to a honda and you'll see what I mean.

Ya muslce car owners will always think their bad ass, especially the older guys who hate imports with a passion. And yes I will think I am bad ass in my car, but I think that no matter what I am driving, lol.

Yes it may be more efficient, but it isn't gonna make shit for power.

Efficiency and reliability is not determined by the number of cylinders an engine has.
