Pics from my weekend with my father. We went near minot area, little south. Our dog did pretty well. I need to switch what I am shooting though, it did some major damage on two birds.

Oh yeah, I was almost killed by a giant momma moose and her calf that came crashing through a shelter belt 20 feet in front of me, lol. Luckily it they didn't see me as they were running from my father on the other side. No pics of the moose, too busy crapping my pants.

Also, I shot the heads completely off TWO pheasants. MY new nickname is "Face off" because I blew their faces right off. I got my first grouse too. I had a LOT of fun.

2nd from the left, no head.

The next day, cut short from a twisted ankle, notice no head on one of these too.

damn id be happy with headshots, i always end up blowing a 2-3 inch hole through the breast (the only part i eat)

the thing is if u change up ur shot ull prolly not have enough umff to knock down those long shots birds, its tough to find a happy medium

Look at the picture again, I got 3 pheasants, my dad got 3, and I got one grouse. The second day, I got 3 (one isn't picture because it is in two peices) then we stopped.

the last 2 years the population has completely exploded. (I think they are grouse anyway)

I've got a feeling they'll be tough to scare up this time of year. There are a ton of them bedded down in the alfalfa fields, some of which don't quite make it out in time. I've killed more mallards and grouse in the last year.... and the number of nests I've destroyed...

I was thinking about rigging up something to try and scare them up earlier.

but no, last time I cut alfalfa I had at least a half dozen of them running around together.

6, but I think I might move to 7's. Or at least 7's in the first shell, fallowed by higher brass 6's in the other two incase I need to make a long distance fallow up shot.
