did i ever say to "not" be proffesional? um no.
but the fact that ppl sit back and do nothing then bitch when someone says something that they think they could have done better, gets a little old.
-
you reffered to chucks stuff not always being professional. His letter he put up was WAY WAY more professional then what Joel did. I am not trying to start a hipocrit battle about who did this and who did that. If you also read, chuck was not here at all during the times the emails was passed.
-
what i was trying to get across is that chuck talks like he knows everything alot, king of being professional, king of politics, etc.... now i'm not bashing him as i don't think he does it on purpose. it is getting old....

Out of all people, I know what can happen when you send a harsh email to somebody. I sent an email stating I was very upset over a small incident at school to one of the head I-T people and I got slapped with "Disorderly Conduct" and got put on probation for a year...I eventually got the violation removed from my record with appeals, but am still on probation for the next 2 months (it was for a full year). The point is that I learned, no matter what, you have to sound professional. I am not mad at Joel for what he emailed, just let it be a lesson learned. If you decide to disagree with somebody on an issue and want to send a reply online, make sure you not only proofread (Joel, you have quite a few grammar mistakes in your emails), but make sure that if you were reading it and didn't know the person that you make sure that it doesn't sound harsh in any way. Acting all pissed does not get you anywhere unless you like digging yourself in a hole.
Summary, I give Joel props for doing what he has with this...nobody else really stepped up to the plate, so he did it. We all make mistakes and learn from them...so lets all quit bitching and continue to make an attempt at making this event work out to its full potential.

Everyone is just sitting here complaining about how joel should have handled it differentyl blah blah blah. Yes he should have but i think after a couple ppl pointed that out it would be enough, he has a lot of things going on right now and he probably let his frustration take over and don't act like non of you have let that happen. So yes he made a mistake, but get over it, jesus, it isn't the end of anything. They had already turned him down so it isn't like he lost a good help anyways, at best he could have talked them into running a few ads.

I really wasn't trying to put Joel down, just offer a little advice on how to proceed in the future. If it came off as a bit "know-it-all-ish", I do apologize as it was not my intent. I was going originally post something like "you were a little harsh, there weren't you Joel?" but then I thought about it and concluded that the best response would be to maybe show the softer approach to the situation. Perhaps, even, Troy Dayton was going to read this section of the forum and see that there are a few people who do respond in a more positive manner going forward.
I feel I know Joel pretty well, and I think he knew I was more trying to provide some constructive criticism than anything. Heck, I APPLAUD Joel and his efforts. His heart is in the right place on this one and he deserves a TON of credit for putting this together. I would have liked to have helped a bit more myself, but family/personal/work constraints prevented me from becoming more active in this. My offer still stands though Joel, if you need any assistance with any of this, just ask.
....now for how not to respond to what I said above (don't take this serious, I am not mad at Matt at all): Fuck you Matt, apparently you are the only one who disagrees with me on this issue. (again, not my serious response...just being non-professional)

haha, i can always count on chuck to not take it out on someone who has a difference of opinion with him from time to time..... love ya chuck

Hell, I know I'm not always right, but if I can offer a little advice from time to time (or every damn thread) I try to do so based on my beliefs. Others can choose to agree/disagree and that's fine as well.

WOW
If I had a disorderly conduct charge slapped on me for writing an email that was critical of something/someone or showed my displeasure with a situation I'd be pissed as f***. What is the world coming to? -

Dustin, you'd be pissed off if someone looked at you the wrong way.I'm not a person who lets people walk over me for no reason...sorry. Too many people just bend over backwards nowadays as other people or just life in general walks all over them like they are worthless. People today as a whole are some of the biggest pussies ever. They let their Constitutional rights get hacked away slowly and pretend it doesn't matter until one day they'll realize that the Constitution is just a worthless piece of paper that means nothing because all the rights guaranteed by it have been circumvented via loopholes and other manipulations.
Yeah I get pissed off easily because basically everyone seems like they are walking around with their heads up their asses about stuff that truly matters. People are more concerned about screwing over places like McDonald's and getting handouts then they are about protecting their freedoms...
Can I bring this thread any further off topic???
