What would my monthly rates be?If you do DirecTV right now, you pay $199 for the HD/DVR receiver (thats after a $100 discount), and depending on the channel package and other receivers you pick, will end up spending probably about the same as Cable One, but have way more HD channels.
For instance right now I have Cable One, and have 2 HD/DVR receivers and just the regular HD programming, and its $90/mo. If I did DirecTv with the HD/DVR and service, plus 2 extra standard receivers (can watch tv in 3 seperate rooms then), it ends up being $80/mo plus tax. For the first year you get $10/mo off which is nice. And then they also give you 3 movie channels free for 3 months (but I'm sure they'll charge you if you don't call to cancel it). So even if it ends up being the same price, there will be way more than Cable One's lame ass 6 or 7 HD channels. I know I'll be calling to get this set up soon.

Kirk,
I just got DirecTV last month. $78 bucks for 200 channels, 100 of them are in HD, including local channels here in the cities. Free installation, free HD receiver, and free second standard receiver. 3 months of HBO, starz and cinemax for free. I also get NFL network, and Big Ten network.

Does the HD-Receiver have DVR?
I'm toying with the idea of switching - but it seems they give you such a great service right away, but than you lose all the free stuff down the road, and prices go up. -

while 1.8 mill seems like a lot...how much does cable one gross as a company?

it seems to me like while it is bitch for hoak media to demand compensation for a signal that is free over the air, i am also really tired of cableone's BAWWWWWWWW
i think it is cableones sole responsibility to negotiate and bring the service back to their customers, not the customers responsibility to badger harass hoak media on behalf of cableone.
i just think it is childish for cableone to ask their customers to go to bat for them. the commercials sound like a whiney 3 year old to me.
cableone should just shut the fuck up about it and do what they need to do to get the service back, it's their fuck up, why should we need to hear about it?
as far as them complaining about the cost and how they have to pass it on to the customer FUCK THAT. they dont HAVE to pass on shit. we already pay out the ass for their service as it is. if they need to work out some sort of compensation agreement to maintain their level of service then that is a cost of doing business and we should see any change in price because of that.
cableone, BAWWWWWWW!!
