2008 Minnesota Vikings thread

If the object of football was to stand still and throw a football through a tire hanging from a tree, Gus would probably be the better choice. But our receivers don't know how to get separation and the one that does (berrian) has a hurt toe still so we need that mobility. I'm not saying T-Jack will ever be a Manning, Brady, or even a top 10 quarterback but we haven't seen him fully used. Young quarterbacks need to get into a rhythm. The repetitive and predictable offensive schemes are the last thing that's gonna help him.
Frerotte will likely be sacked 6 or 7 times and they'll have to bring T-Jack back anyway....but if Frerotte can prove me wrong I wouldn't mind it one bit.

again.
jackson has never proven he can make plays with his arm.
he has shown 0 progression in 16 games. he's too inconsistent.
-
He hasn't been given a chance. If we're gonna accuse him of losing games for us, let him lose a full game. Not let him make hand offs up the middle for 57 minutes then expect him to save the day like we did against the Packers. Like I said....rhythm.
I wish we had a back-up for Brad Childress. There's a reason they didn't let him call plays in Philly...........
-
Omg. He passes for like 26-30 times a game and only gets 150 yards. Rarely gets a passing td. Hell hes had 2 halves so far this year with 30 passing yards or less.
Its really obvious Childress(who i hate dont get me wrong) has no faith in the kid to do stuff in through the air.
And Im with him there, I think TJack sucks.

Tjack is a worthless fuck, end of story, end of thread. They win the first game he doesn't play if that's not the writing on the wall I don't know what is..
How you can continue to ride his nuts is beyond me.

When you learn that playcalling is a part of football, get back to me. Thanks -
You can't call passing plays if the QB can't pass though. Of course they're gonna take advantage of the fact that Frerotte can throw the ball, and use a lot more passing plays. It was a great decision to try something different, and obviously it worked. Hopefully they keep it up. They really really need to cut back on penalties though, being over 100 yards in penalties doesn't do much for your team.

It's never been proven to me that Jackson can't pass. I've only seen him have the opportunity to pass when it's fully expected. Frerotte got to pass through out the whole game. Childress and Bevell knew their asses were on the line once they couldn't push the blame on T-Jack so they opened the playbook up more..simple as that. One Frerotte gets a concussion and/or injured, you'll see the real Tarvaris Jackson.

If they're going to groom a QB for the future then they need to get Booty some snaps.

They trusted what Gus could do and didn't trust what Jackson could do. You yourself said play calling is a big part of the game, so apparently someone realized that the plays that Jackson knew and could execute fairly reliably were not good enough to win the game.

Want to explain to me what Tjacks rating is of passes 20 yards or more? Thats passes caught 20 yards away from the QB, not passes caught for 5 yards then ran for 15+. It's at about a 5. Lowest in the league. Want to know what else, TJack ranks bottom 5 in every stat that counts.Tjack would never have completed the passes to Berrian and Shiancoe(im still shocked he caught that TD)..and Gus's 1 pick was a ball that a receiver making Berrians money catches. Gus just has better touch on his down field passes. Tjack doesnt. hell Tjack has no touch on his 5 yard slants or outs. theyre all at the receivers shoe laces.
Face it. Youre fighting a losing battle here, TJack sucks. He could be cut tomorrow and wouldn't be worth a shit to all 31 other teams in the league, none the less be their starting QB
-
We scored ONE offensive touchdown with Gus replacing TJack, and that was only because it was that once-in-a-decade instance where Shiancoe actually caught the ball. I'm not saying TJack was the man, but we didn't win that game because of Gus, we won it because of the defense. We didn't lose because of Gus Frerotte, which was more than I can say for TJack.
Why are so many people calling for Booty? Is it just because of his last name?

No because you don't get to become quarterback at USC for nothing... The kids got talent.
