I've been through many stereo systems. I think what's killed it for me is I've replaced ONE blown sub. But I have replaced way more stolen systems. Another thing is the work isn't hard realy so people get their friends to do it and such. If i get another system it will be a kicker L7 10 in a false floor I'll do myself. I just wanna make something hard as hell to stealI'm not a Kicker or MTX dealer...but do yourself a favor and listen to the MTX Square sub before you even contemplate that Kicker GARBAGE (notice I don't normally cut down a product line....I'm making an exception here). I'm sure Tintmasters or AudioGarage would be more than willing to let you hear one of the square subs if you are hell bent on being super loud and using a square sub.

I know you do stereos and I value your opinion but I wouldn't call them garbage. I've had a lot of different setups and I just like the kicker line best out of everything and have never had any problems with them. I've had an l5 15. two l7 12's and an l7 10. I just like the sound of them and they're pretty cheap. I had the L7 12 in a custom vented box in my Z and Haven't heard a system with one sub louder than that before. fucking rediculous.
-
Just the L7's are garbage...listen to them...they don't get stupid loud and they aren't clean, yet they cost a fair amount..seriously, listen to the MTX series.
I like most everything else kicker makes besides the square subs...

Kicker has gone way down hill from what they used to be IMO Kicker = JensenI don't know if I'd go THAT extreme, but I do think you pay a lot for them in relation to what you get.

the mtx square is much better than the L7 just give it a try i wont let you down,

I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread, but I thought it might be interesting that up here in Bemidji, the car audio scene is pretty dead also. People are so enveloped in going fast that the extras aren't as important.
I work at Overbeek Electronics and Music in Bemidji and we've had a better summer sales then the last 2 years, but compared to 4 years ago it is practically non-existent. I'll look forward to reading this whole thread soon.

i do have to say that some vehicles are seemingly tougher to install anything in, I am still into systems very much so but like a lot of others i am hurting for cash, i recently sold a panasonic deck(almost sold) that i had laying around to a couple in my building, for their sunfire, the agreement was that they would purchase it if i installed it for them, after a little internet homework i found they needed a special harness, for the data retention system, they immediatly lost interest, i love installing, i find it fun, but the increasingly harder to find kits and parts and special wiring parts make it difficult, my nephew just bought a kicker cvr, rockford amp from a pawn shop and had me put it in, then wanted his kenwood deck installed, he bought the kit, and we started on it, we spent the better part of the night working on it only to find out we had to cut one of the wiring harnesses to hook up the speakers using the factory amp. none of the kits best buy or site on sound had would work, long long story short, was a pain to some extent and his buddies were there and i think mabye they lost a little interest after seeing how much work it was to install. there again just a bunch of "whooooa hes got bass!!!" kids that listen primarily to crap music, just my opinion and experience, but would most definatly attend a sound show!!!!

for my current situation the factory harmon kardon setup sounds really nice, I like the factory steering wheel controls, and audio controlled through the nav screen. I don't forsee any aftermarket stereo in my future for those reasons, other then an ipod integration.

im still very into car audio, i like installing also and trying to build my own amp racks and etc. i will always be into that kind of think i need to not just hear the music i need to feel it also. does anyone know why there is not anymore sound comps around town? or where there is ant being held?

lol i was waiting for you to post on here mat. If someone were to organize events around here i think you would see more of an interest in it. I love car audio but my money usually goes into performance first which doesn't leave me with a whole lot for my audio set up..

i enjoy having cash for both. having already invested about 600 dollars into an amp/sub/box setup, i have found that i can just sell my shit and get something different.
plus getting wire isnt a real problem with me, just go home and take some from the shop.i have 2 car plans, the DD'er, compete car audio, and the other, the Fast car, with simple upgrades.
i try to balance out my cash, because i love both so much.
that and i do Home Theater too, so i balance it 3 ways..but totally.
and is it TJamz?
where is it exactly that your store is? cause id love to check out what you have for RE
i would totally go to events around here, but from what ive heard there arent many. -
I am a home based store (meaning low overhead for me, better savings for you). With the state of car audio what it is here in Fargo, I really can't afford to take the chance on opening a full retail location....not do I have the time to run it as a full time business.
Shoot me a PM if you are interested in anything in particular.

I remember back in the day going to DL to a sound comp. My buddy had a yellow prelude that was ungodly loud. I had to sit on the roof of it during a run and when the bass hit my arms turned to jello. I cant quite remember what he hit but it was well above 150 (I'm thinking more like 160 or 170). Chris do you remember what it was?

up where i live everyone buys the walmart pioneer crap or orders it off the internet dirt cheap because they dont care if it could be stolen or care about other people makeing money in a local setting. MOST are just cheap asses and want something for nothing. some are even to cheap for wire they use old house electrical wire or something and they wonder why their stereos burn up their cars,
