my question about how to win best detailed still hasnt been answered....alls i know is it went to tony because "he's always detailing his car"
im sure everyone else there is also so???
-
My questions weren't answered either, why was it ok for someone to not be at the show to win an award and did chases cavaliers mod sheet ever get filled out?

Because, in all honesty, his car engine, wheels, tailpipe, floor mats, carpet, etc... are clean enough to where I'd have no problem eating off them....this includes WELL into his undercarriage, something that very very very few people (including me) bother to clean that thoroughly. There were only 2 other cars there as clean as his IMO, and they both took home their fair share of trophies as well....he drove his car there (and drives it daily) and for his car to be at that level of cleanliness says something about the great lengths he goes through to get to that point. The question I have for you then is, who should have won it if not Tony West? Your car? Tony S? The G? Give me a legitimate contender and I will gladly state why I think they didn't get it or admit that it was an error on my judgment and the judgment of the other 2 judges that were there as well.
IOW we are human and it is possible we made a mistake. Sorry, but we only had 2 mins per car to make our assessment and based on what we saw, his car won.

This isn't a person show, it's a car show. His car made it to the show, that is all that matters. Let's say that the owner of "The G" didn't make it, but his father/best friend/wife brought it down for him. Should that exclude him from winning? HELL NO!
I honestly can't remember if his sheet was filled out, but everything that he had done to that car "popped" to the point where it was easy to judge w/o a mod sheet. If he didn't have one, he got points deducted, just like everyone else. Doesn't mean he didn't score well on the other categories.

Was just wondering as he was registered as car #155 and there was 152 cars registered IIRC and that would have made the jump from 4 GM cars to 5 GM cars making it a 2 trophy category seems like it was a last minute addition to the show....like i said before i know his car beats the other GM cars hands down just sux for the rest of us My G5 and Mikes Fiero and the redline fiero and the Ion Redline were all modded pretty closely and would have been cool for one of us to get a trophy beings that it should have been a 2 trophy category or just us competing if i am correct about the last minute addition
-
There were at least 3 drop outs as well. He may have been a late entry to fill a drop out....as others might have been as well (which may put more cars into a class than was originally anticipated and therefore not as many trophies as there would have been if it would have been registered on time...just my speculation) Again, I can't answer that as I don't have access to that info (who/what/when anyone registered)

its a 08 with like what did he say maybe 5000 miles? of course its clean, i never once seen his hood open, doors open i just seen the outside of the car...
On alot of other peoples cars, tony's S, the G35, or my car... They actually have parts that they need to clean, not just a stock car...
Good example: BRAKES, or wheels without hubcaps.
I have black wheels, and black brakes on my car, which are easily seen and everyone knows black is the harest color to keep clean. They were both spotless. I drive my car to work, 60 miles one way so it gets FILLED with bugs, and brake dust all the time and still only has 2300 miles on it.
I wasnt expecting to win anything but when i heard his name called for best detailed i wondered what the hell they were looking for when judging that category.
But then again i'm not part of veritas, or any other car club so i mustve been disqualified right away. LOLNext year i'll remember to go drive a car off the lot, park it in my garage under a car cover, and take it out the day before to insure i win the "best detailed"

Jon or John However you spell your name.... Just drop it. It really sounds like your arguing for the sake of arguing itself. It's a mute point now. If you want to really bitch, go to tintmasters forum and let er buck or pm Jason or Shane. And I'm not saying it because he's in our car club either. It's just beating a dead horse now.

I've seen it dirty (mud splashed up, etc...) and every nook and cranny was clean when he showed. Everything...even the little hidden spots under the bumpers that you can only feel and not see.

If there was a best Wheels category, you would have had my vote because NOBODY had the quality/finish wheels that you did. There were aspects of your car that didn't meet the "attention to detail" for lack of a better term. I don't want to pick your car apart publicly as nothing good can come from that.
It could be argued that because you have new parts on your car (not necessarily you, but others) that you have the advantage of not having them exposed to the elements for the same duration as the aftermarket parts. BTW, his car doesn't have hubcaps.

But then again** i'm not part of veritas, or any other car club** so i mustve been disqualified right away. LOLI was the only judge associated with a car club at all. That issue never even came up. Perhaps his car just appeared to be better prepped than the rest that we looked at. It's not like he hasn't won this award at at least one other P10 (I think he won 2 years ago...I wasn't judging that show, pretty sure SLD gave the award to him then...I haven't judged since the first P10)
Next year i'll remember to go drive a car off the lot, park it in my garage under a car cover, and take it out the day before to insure i win the "best detailed"

His car was cleaner than the fresh from the factory subarus that Muscatell had on site, so that won't work either.
Better idea, next year ask Jason/Shane if they will let you judge, then you will have the wonderful experience of knowing you did your best and knowing that everyone who disagrees with you thinks you are biased in one way or another. Many things in car shows are objective, meaning that you have a clear list of things that make/break a score, however detailing is subjective and is based on opinions. Unfortunately, not all opinions are popular and sometimes they are wrong. I may be wrong, I've never claimed to be perfect, far from it... At the same time, I don't think I was biased in any of my awards...but that of course is a matter of opinion.

I dont understand what all the drama is about. Is it all because Ridinrails doesnt agree with who got a trophy?

Im not trying to disagree with your judging at all chuck, Im just upset that someone who wasnt at the show, didnt have a mod list filled out won something, it just doesnt seem like they cared about the show since they werent even there or didnt prep a mod list to be listed for their car if they did want to be there. Seemed like it was more so part of ET Kreations booth rather than the actual show and if it was a late addition in my opinion should have been disqualified from winning any awards because it messed with the pre determined allotted trophies to be awarded. Now on a side note do i think some cars should have placed differently then they did, yes but im sure everyone feels that way about at least 1 car, but i respect your opinion and the other judges and what you judged on and overall think the judging went great for the most part
