Yes, yes, your numbers are getting bigger.
:icon_salut:FS members, im Mat.
its been a while since i did a member introduction so ill try to do my best
i grew up in the Divide County(Crosby) area. graduated this year, and am now attending NDSCS for auto tech(big suprise)and maybe auto body later.
um yeah, i kinda grew up in the back of a 93 T/A my dad redid at the college here in 1993-94, completely totaled and he brought it back to life. so yeah. automotive is kinda in my blood. my grandparents did some intresting things in their day, lots of stories, so i get it from them.
we have a few interesting cars out at my farm back home.1957 Bel-Air 4 door
2 1961 Pontiac Bonneville convirts, 1 all original, loaded 4 on floor, and 1 auto with a 383
1970 Corvette Stingray 350/300 4 spd convertible hardtop (monza red, ultra rare, resto in process)
1968/72 C/10 chevy truck, 402 BBC powered, purple in color, big meaty tires....should get it running again.
my 1961 Studebaker Lark.... getting a 327 Chevy motor in it, rear end, tranny, ect. kinda a drag car when finished. its taking a while, but it should run very nicely.
a 1980s Ford Bronco?? completely redone. i think its 302 powered... thats my cousin in law's toy.
im missing alot of cars...
um well, dads 2002 Collector Edition Trans Am....
theres a few 1960 and older trucks, including a few 5 windows
my 1981 Grand Prix(yeah, about that....)many others, too many to list. not all my familys, its a family farm, grandparents, great uncle and his daughter, ect. plus my parents. 3 houses, about 4000 acres of crop/ranchland total, maybe more...
and of course my baby
2002 WS.6 T/A

i might not be around so much right away. but ill try to be here. also an avid member of Carforums.net
if any of you want any pictures of anything, i have some pics, but not of all cars. most arent redone or anything but are still there.
so yeah
Post up later.

Thats alot of reading, welcome aboard
-
good intro, and someone that actually deals with older stuff!
Have any pics of the 57 or the 61 ponchos?
-
well, the 57 is how do we say..... all original...in a bad way.
lots of rust from rat piss, other than the trunk most of the panels look amazing.and the 61s are nice. see if i can find one....

im pretty sure its 61, and if not, its 62
EDIT:yeah, guess it is on the damn license plate, rofl. my bad.
thx for the warm welcome guys, and just so everyone knows, im a MAJOR LSx whore, so if its not fast enough, LSx it!

you gonna be in wahp this weekend? is the TA there? I might have to come check it out.
Gary
sadly no, its sleeping at home 7 hours away.
ill have it in March down here though.plans for within 6 months include new pushrods(strengthening for something amazing :D), new beehive springs, and a new cam, with a ridiculous duration, lift, and somewhere around a 110 overlap....again, getting ready for something crazy

and a flash tuner of course.... it already has Borla catback, so thats a plus.
im trying to get as many mods as possible out of it without having to swap the injectors and lose my mpg completely.
the car does have a PILE of miles on it, so eventually the internals will have to be redone, but hopefully not too soon, maybe ill learn the hard way, maybe not. needs some visual upkeep, front and rear bumper would be nice, a new door (fiberglass is fucked) and new paint, but i know a body man cough, dad, cough
small things that need fixing, that i can DEFIANTLY live without having.
thx for the interest man.

Welcome man, all of your cars look tight. So whats this "something amazing" you're talking about?

it makes your exhaust go WHIRR, makes a high pitched whine, and goes PSH when you let off the gas

STS rear mount. looking to do it in 2-3 years. i am just a poor college kid after all, lol. i really need to do the supporting mods first, clutch, pushrods, maybe rear end a bit, and DEFINITELY subframe connectors.
thinking the 8 psi kit, running 5 on the street ~400whpish at 5psi, just on stock motor, cam and other mods obviously more.itll happen someday, just not that soon. i have a lot of stuff to deal with right now moneywise.
-
welcome
I agree, LSx > all
but please no on the STS, put it where it belongs
you say you are getting ready for boost........ so I don't understand why you are doing an aggressive cam with that low of a LSA when you want to boost it eventually........... seems like you will be doing stuff twice
goes along with what your thinking on the injectors......... keep your stock cam or get a low overlap boost cam, because that is what is going to kill your mpg,........ injectors have nothing to do with it......
with a tune (obviously) 60lbs are gonna do just as well as 26lbs

ah, that was my downfall, i had my LSA theory backwards. for some reason i was thinking smaller LSA was boostworthy...
so in that case 114 and upwards? i still havent started looking for the specific cam yet...thx for straighting me out man. any more thoughts on the STS project? haha. its cheap, and makes ponies, thats about all i can say about STS
its not like im about to do a TT APS build. i dont want to spend the $$ for that.

Yeah no problem
Just for what you spend on a STS kit you could have a much much better system....
A STS kit is very very far from Ideal, sure it makes power, but there are so many things that are working against it... Id get into it if you would like, but i am guessing you don't want that here
just take a look at this thread on Tech.... this will give you some food for thought...
http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508764
the proven setup of stock manifolds is proven, cheap, and reliable.....especially in Fbodys
there is not much work to fabricating a hotside or to have someone else do it
That is my 2 cents....
My best advise to you is that if you are truly serious about keeping this car, buy HPT, learn how to use it, and be miles ahead when you decide on how you want to mod it.............. you will not be scared of FI in the least if you learn this system, it is amazing
