DSM Tuning
-
So who knows how much help I'll get on here, but I wanted to toss it out there anyways knowing there are plenty of guys on here who are or were in the DSM game. I just finished my new setup consisting of a fp 20g 6sl2, sls external dump o2 housing, tial 38mm wg, apexi dp, and apexi cb. I just need to get the fp 4 inch intake for finish it off. It feels pretty good when I got to drive it over christmas break, but it definately needs some tuning. The car is sitting all winter until im back in town after hockey. So here's the question, what would be a good setup to have for tuning. I already have 660's, aeromotive afpr, wally 255, datalogger and s-afc. I need to get new gauges and I will get a boost, egt, water temp, and aem wideband im thinking. I could tune with the datalogger, wideband, and afc, but my datalogger is brutal and I can never get it to work right. I know DSM Link is best but that is really expensive for me at the moment. I was thinking about buying a eprom ecu already setup with a chip from here.

Its a little expensive too but if my ecu is eprom I could just get it socketed and get the chip and im set. Now what I like about this setup is that I can have a good base tune with the chip and then the wideband and afc will always be there for any fine adjustments I would have to make. Let me know what everyone thinks.

AFCs...lolz, i didn't realize anyone still had those.....

Nothing wrong with a chipped ECU and an AFC to fine tune it, seen alot of really well set up cars with that combination and its cheap. Using the AFC on a stock ECU is retarded though, making that large of a change. With the chip the changes are pretty minor and very effective. BUT, DSMLink FTW

I would look into MAP-ECU and see if anyone has had any success with one of those on a DSM. They are/were limited to like 32psi, but not many people run that much boost(that only want a piggyback, anyway). The Supra guys have had decent success with them, but the word on the street is that the older ones were kind of a PITA to tune.
