Shameless Plug for a local Company: Academy of Combat Arts.

I've thought about doing this myself. Seems like my old style of bar-fighting doesn't cut it anymore and there are too many grapplers out there.
I checked the website but didnt see anything about cost. Not to sound petty, but these days, cost is a definite concern for me.
I guess I could just call over there and ask but was wondering what the basic Jiu Jitsu class costs?

also interested in cost... and what the beginners programs look like

Sports Center is a great weight lifting facility IMO, feels like the high school weight room as far as a comfort level, especially if you plan on lifting a little large and making some noise. I haven't been in courts, but I believe its similiar, just larger and a bit more "corporate" feeling. The other 24hr places in strip malls are just that. Basic 24hr gyms that work well for purpose. Make some grunts in there and every person in the room will be looking at you funny. If I chose one 24hr one, it would be Cormax (I believe only 1 location tho?), just because lifting with explosion ftmfw. I guess I haven't been in their new location yet either, though.
So, decide what your goal is, and make a decision based on that IMO.
It's cool to see the MMA stuff getting popular around here too. Local entertainment choices have really increased as of late. When is your first fight?

I also noticed a Jiu-Jitsu place on 13th by Little Caesars?

I don't know about individual class cost, I pay $75 a month to take whatever classes I show up too. That could be as many as 5 hours of class/rolling 6 days a week with lunch hour sparring available when the instructors believe you can handle it.

Then the instructors will take you aside if you need help. You can also go in outside of class times or during "open mat" time and get some one on one instructions.

I would bet they will have a new facility within the year, and they are looking to add weights but not at the time being.

Yeah, I was wondering this too.
I have a powerlifting meet in April, then I plan to cut about 40lbs down to 260-270. Then I will start the hard conditioning and cardio needed to fight. I would guess within a Years time if my instructors agree that I am ready. Both John and Dylan fight, have fought and cornered for fighters and I would trust their judgement on my own abilities.

Fargo BJJ does both gi and no gi jiu jitsu, and also now have a class that teaches striking and muy thai. It is a real good school. It's awesome that this stuff is getting big and popular. I don't know much about some of the other schools but the Academy of combat arts sounds sweet.
