What unit do you use? DeWalt 849, 443, Makita 9227, PC? What training do you have in rotories if you use one? Whatproducts/compunds do you use? IS your wash a stripper wash or do you remove the wax/previouse paint conaminants via the buffing process?

No school, just like detailing a lot. I don't have the guts or training to use a rotory on my own car (I use a PC 7424) so It would be nice to find someone who actually knows how to use one with experience.

We Use the Dewalt 849 Ive used about every buffer on the market and I like the Dewalt the best.!! Im gonna be getting a Dual Action Buffer soon.. I learned to buff cars for Selland Motors and Aaron learned at Valley Imports. So we both have some good training under our belts, about 7 years together. For compounds I use Eagle One Heavy-Duty Buffing / Meguiars Diamound Cut 2.0 and From time to time I will use 3M ... Next I Would use Auto Magic's Polish or Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0 Which is a Light cut and will leave a brilliant high gloss, after that I use Auto Magic XP wax/ Meguiars HI-Tech Wax (Carnauba)

When a car is buffed with a Heavy Cut It removes all old wax and conaminants , From time to time we would have to Clay Bar the Whole Car.

Sounds like a good process you have. It's good to see you actually know what your doing and are not justs slapping on some turtle wax with an off brand swirl machine. Was it hard to get the hang of the DeWalt?

Took about a week to get use to it, Next your probley gonna ask how we shampoo carpets... We shampoo the carpets by using Eagle One carpet shampoo and then extract the carpets with a mytee hp60 heated extractor. Works great you should buy one...jk

I wish I could afford an extractor. Isn't that like a grand for one? Until then I will just make everyone take there shoes off when they get into the car.

EDIT: How did you learn on the rotory? Did they let you practice on junk cars first? or did they have someone supervise you to prevent you from thinning the paint?

I still Remember my first buff job with a Dewalt at Sellands ... It was a Silver 2000+ Silverado... They didnt really Teach me anything .. they told me how to hold it and how much compound to use. You learn best by just going at it... you may burn the paint if your not careful with using that buffer but if you turn down the speed you should be fine when learning. Note: do you learn how to buff on a Dark Color Car!!!

The Mytee HP60 runs about 1100.00 and the hp 100 runs about 1400.00
